Morgan and James walked up to the door of Great Eagle’s small lodge. As James raised his hand to knock, a voice from within said, “Waabijii-ma’iingan, Waabishki-ma’iingan—Biindigaw, Grey Wolf, White Wolf—come in.” The two young men looked at each other and smiled. James pushed open the door to the lodge. The same dim interior Morgan remembered from his first visit to the shaman greeted them. As before, candles were the main illumination, and the smell of burning sage still filled the small room. Today a small fire burned in a fire pit and Morgan watched as the smoke drifted up and out of the dwelling through a hole in the roof.
