Chapter 11 New York was too warm. The snow that fell occasionally didn’t stay on the ground, it melted, as if it couldn’t stand the city. Cody could identify with that. The holidays swooped over everything, and for three days Cody had no time to breathe or even think. There were people to rescue, animals to save from flames, and infernos to extinguish. Call after call went out, and it felt like he was answering them all, although he knew he wasn’t, there were hundreds of them he never even got to hear about.
