It was past six when Cody let the last tool fall into the open drawer of a now clean workbench. The garage looked inviting now, spotless and tidy. There were still things to be done—everything in here needed to be sold or donated. He doubted that someone was going to buy the house as is, furniture and all. But he had time until they’d find a buyer to deal with it. For now, the garage was as uncluttered as it would ever get. As a bonus, the car’s engine had purred smoothly when he had tried it out earlier. When he stepped into the kitchen, the house was quiet and dark.
