~ Jaelyn
I opened my eyes to see nothing, but darkness. I was in the middle of nowhere, waves of different emotions and memories rushed through brain. I saw flashes of what I'm sure was my old life before I lost my memory. I kept being repeated that it started to drive me insane. I forced my eyes to open as to end this mental pain.
I gasped for air as I sat straight in an unfamiliar bed. Confusion was taking over me when I noticed the foreign furniture of the costly room that I was staying in. Throwing the bed sheets aside, I stopped dead in my tracks, when I heard a soft knock on the door.
It was opened slowly, revealing a middle-aged woman. Obviously, she was a maid since she was wearing the typical black and white maid costume.
"Are you awake, yet, darling?" She offered a warm smile, and I could tell that she had a lovely accent. It was British.
"Yea. I had a nightmare and I ... Woke up." I breathed heavily, trying to keep my answer as short as possible.
"Oh, okay." Thank heavens she didn't ask me to talk about it, or she would have said that I was a total psycho. No doubts.
"My name is Rosemary, Rosey for short." She introduced herself.
"Uh... Okay," I awkwardly waved at her.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." She stated in an old way of greeting. I grinned attempting to be polite as much as I could.
"This is not the United States, is it?"
"Welcome to London, dear." I smiled, she returned it, turning around and heading toward the door. Last I remember, I was told that I was in the United States.
"Oh, I almost forgot, I brought you some clean clothes to wear. Sir Alex is going to be out for today. He won't be back until evening." She walked out of the room, closing the door shut behind her.
It took me over ten minutes for my brain to process what she said and to gather memories of last night. I reached my hand out to touch my head, carefully I began to sort everything out.
The auction, the old man, the new buyer who claimed me as his and lastly the bad dream I got of my life back there at what I called 'the slammer'.
I huffed, hopping off the bed and strolled to the bathroom which I figured that it was enjoined to the room.
I did my usual, boring routine, and got into the shower tub, to take a cleansing shower, since I hadn't had it for a really long time.
I opened the hot water knob, but instantly, I jumped away from the dripping water, it was burning me.
I expected a hot, steamy tub, however, no steam had come out of the water, yet.
Slowly sliding my hand back under the streaming water. I found it was at a good temperature.
Puzzlement started to absorb me, leaving me motionless. I looked down at my burning body and I shrieked. it was all covered in bruises, scratches and clotted blood.
I knew I was being tortured at the slammer, but I never got the chance to take a look at my own body.
Not lasting longer than three minutes I got out of the shower and dried my hair with a folded towel.
There was a cutting mark on my stomach, that I just noticed. I'd hoped that it wouldn't leave a scar on my body. I sighed in defeat and wrapped a towel around my body and another on my hair.
I stepped outside the bathroom to wear my outfit, but that was when the door swung opened.
My grasp on the towel tightened, as my eyes closed shut. Rosey entered the room, her eyes were in the shape of two wide circles. She dropped the clothes she was holding on the floor.
"What in goodness sake is this?" She gasped. "You were fine just moments before you went to shower."
"No, I wasn't. It was all covered." I murmured
"Who did this?... And why?" I kept silent, not wanting to spill anything out because if I did Alex might take me back there.
"I do not know." I lied, scratching my head. "Can you please do me a favor and do not tell anyone... especially Alex."
"What?! No, no, no. Are you out of your mind? I cannot. I can't keep any secrets from him. He would know a-and I would get punished... and probably you too." She stuttered.
"Just bring me long-sleeved clothes and jeans, he would not discover anything, I promise."
"I'm sorry, this means breaking so many rules I just c-can't."
"Look, in case he found out, pretend as if you didn't know about it, okay? If he knows, he will surely ask me who, when and why since he paid a lot to buy me and if I don't say the truth, in which I honestly don't clearly remember, he will get pissed off and possibly throw me in the streets for breaking his rules." That was when she fell silent.
"Fine, I won't tell him."
"Thank you," I said, dropping my head down and sighing in relief.

"Come on finish your breakfast, I won't be able to show you around the house if you kept eating this slow," Rosey called out from the kitchen. For me, it looked like a goddamn living room, but whatever.
"Almost done eating." I shoved the last piece of pancakes in my mouth before standing up and quickly jogging towards Rosey.
I walked through the same hallway I came from. I saw Rosey waiting for me at the end of it.
"So, are you ready?"
"Yes." I giggled as we started to walk through the different hallways of the house in which some led us upstairs and others downstairs. I realized how big his house was, I wouldn't even dream of it. I was basically a mansion.
I was satisfied and comfortable with walking, talking and laughing with Rosey, something that I hadn't done since I was kidn*pped.
I learned there were many other maids, Rosey was the eldest one and the first one, too, so she was their boss.
But most importantly, I learned something else,
Out of the worst situations that you might face during your lifetime, there will always be good ones in store for you. They will eventually come, you just have to be patient...
