Liv's POV
I prayed not to meet either of them, but I was answered with the worst of them.
“Thanks,” I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.
He didn’t respond, his expression unreadable as he carried the suitcase down the stairs.
I followed behind him, my eyes drawn to the way he moved with such ease, like the weight of the world or my baggage didn’t even faze him.
When we reached the bottom of the staircase, he set the suitcase down gently and brought out the handle to roll the box.
His eyes briefly met mine. His gaze was piercing, and for a moment, I thought he was going to say something, but he remained silent.
“Why are you helping me?” I blurted out before I could stop myself.
Kaelon’s lips twitched into something that was almost a smirk, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Let’s just say I prefer not to watch someone struggle unnecessarily.”
I frowned, unsure whether to take his words as an insult or a compliment. “I could have managed on my own.”
“Of course you could have,” he said smoothly, his tone dripping with amusement. “But why make things harder than they need to be?”
I opened my mouth to respond, but the words caught in my throat as he took a step closer, his towering presence making the air around us feel heavier.
“I’m just helping you fulfil your desired,” he said, his voice low and deliberate, “And I will make sure I fulfil ALL of them.”
Fuck! Emphasis taken.
My insides clenched with excitement and anticipation, but my brain knew better.
I have to stay away from Kaelon Blackwood.

Kaelon's POV
I followed her down the staircase, the heavy suitcase in my grip feeling like a feather compared to the weight pressing on my chest.
Liv Bennett.
I still couldn’t wrap my head around it. How could she be the same woman?
I had almost wanted to find her after igniting the hidden desires in me, but could not believe that she was my son's fiancee.
Or rather, his EX-Fiancée, now that Aaron had thoroughly proven himself unworthy of her.
As I rolled her luggage toward the door, I tried to make sense of it all.
That night replayed in my mind like a relentless film reel. I’d convinced myself that the haze of whiskey and exhaustion had led me to her bed.
But I hadn’t been drunk. I hadn’t been so far gone that I didn’t know what I was doing.
I wanted her every soft curve, every breathless moan, every fleeting moment where it felt like the emptiness inside me had finally been filled.
God help me, if I could turn back time, I’d do it again.
I clenched my jaw as I trailed her to the car park. The way she moved, the subtle sway of her hips, the tilt of her chin as she avoided looking back at me was maddening.
How had this woman managed to break through the walls I’d built? Since Maria left, I hadn’t so much as looked at another woman, let alone allowed one to get close enough to touch me.
Maria.
Her face flashed in my mind, soft and serene as it had been all those years ago. She’d been the love of my life, the only woman I’d ever truly opened my heart to.
Aaron's mother.
Realizing she had gone for good left me shattered me in ways I couldn’t begin to describe, and I’d buried myself in work to cope with the loss. Traveling, building my empire, and ensuring Aaron had everything he needed. That had been my life.
Until now.
I looked at Liv as she walked ahead of me, her fingers curling tightly around her car keys. What was it about her? How had she managed to pull me into her orbit, to make me forget even for a single night how broken I was?
We reached the car park, and I lifted the suitcase into the trunk with ease, setting it down carefully.
She murmured a soft “Thank you,” but her eyes remained fixed on the ground, her body tense as if she couldn’t bear to meet my gaze.
“Liv,” I said, my voice low and steady.
She stiffened, her hands fumbling with the keys. “Yes?”
“Look at me.”
For a moment, I thought she’d ignore me, but then she turned her head slightly, her eyes flickering up to meet mine. Those eyes.
Damn those eyes! They held a storm of emotions I couldn’t begin to untangle, but wanted to gaze into them while f*****g her again.
I wanted to tell her that she didn't have to avoid me. It was my son who wronged her and not I. I wanted to tell her that I didn't know she was my son's fiancee. But I also wanted to tell her that I had the most maddening s*x in years.
“Have a safe ride.” I said, forcing any emotion out of my voice.
Her lips parted slightly, and I could see the battle raging within her. But she didn't say anything.
Good girl.
I exhaled sharply and took a step back, giving her the space she clearly needed. She opened the car door and slid into the driver’s seat, her movements hurried and almost frantic.
I watched as she inserted the key into the ignition and turned it. The engine sputtered, then fell silent. She tried again, her brows furrowing in frustration, but the car refused to start.
“Is there a problem?” I asked, taking a step closer.
“No,” she said quickly, her voice tight. “It’s fine.”
Her knuckles whitened as she gripped the steering wheel, and I could see the tension radiating from her in waves. She was lying, but I didn’t press the issue.
I should have offered to help. I should have insisted on driving her myself or calling someone to fix the damn car. But that was like seeking to unleash a wild cat.
And I knew that if I stayed longer, I might do something that we might later regret. Or maybe something we wouldn’t regret at all.
I forced myself to turn away, every step back toward the house feeling like a battle against my own instincts.
When I reached the door, I glanced over my shoulder, watching as she sat there, her head bowed and her hands trembling on the wheel.
Damn it all.
Once I was inside, I pulled out my phone and dialed my driver.
“Mr. Blackwood,” he answered promptly.
“There’s a car in the lot that won’t start,” I said curtly. “I need you to take the owner wherever she needs to go. Now.”
“Yes, sir.”
I hung up and leaned against the wall, pinching the bridge of my nose.
I had no business feeling this way about her. She was supposed to be Aaron’s. But even as I told myself that, I couldn’t ignore the flicker of relief I’d felt when Aaron’s infidelity had come to light.
"Liv Bennett wasn't just beautiful-she was captivating, infuriating, and entirely too tempting for her own good. And now, she wasn't tied to my son anymore.
But that didn't make her mine.
Not yet.
I hate to admit it, but l'd do anything to have her. Anything. And to the goddess, I pray Aaron doesn't try to step in my way.
I love him but I might not stop myself from crushing him. Just to have her. Just to keep Liv by my side...forever.”
