I stood there for a few seconds, my heart pounding in my chest. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. There I was, standing in the VIP entrance of the Blackwood Corporation building, having a near confrontation with Kaelon.
But of course there was nothing I could really do other than to just stand there and take it.
I wanted to scream, to yell at him for being so condescending, but I caught myself just in time. He was my boss, after all. His words echoed in my head, as sharp and cruel as a whip. “Time is money, Liv. And you’re working in my company now. You might want to act like it.”
