The Creature

1093 Words
As the creatures head touched mine, I sunk into  what felt like a vision, this creature was communicating to me the only way it knew how to right now, it seemed he had lost his ability to communicate the same way other animals could, the voice he had was like a broken, crackled record that could only repeat a few things at a time. Slowly, letting the vision  speak to me, it started off, he was just an ordinary man, no friends, no family, worked a 9-5 job in an office building. He lead a simple life, no need for wanting to date or anything like that, most of his spare time he spent writing or watching werewolf and vampire cliche movies. They made him laugh, every now and then you'd see him at a bar chatting with various people, but he wasn't a "regular" as they were called. He was orphaned as a young man, around sixteen or so, no one adopted him and when he was eighteen, he just sort of phased out of the world he knew and kept to himself. One night, he went to a new bar just to observe the people there; some people had been playing bar games, darts, poll, drinking games, and the like. When he was finished up, he had walked outside and was just sort of wandering around, he had never been to this town before and was too drunk to drive, but not black out drunk, so to sober up he just kept walking.  The town was amazing and you could see the forest next to it, for some reason he kept hearing things rustling around that sounded bigger than deer or night owls and mice. He was getting nervous that a bear was lurking around, and it was a fast bear too. He was watching the forest edge as he quickly walked back to the bar, or maybe his car, either way he needed to get somewhere safe and fast. The street lights started to turn off one by one, causing him to stop in his tracks. The rustling started creeping out of the woods now, he was guided by the moonlight, though there was very little at the time to just make out the walk way and forest edge. Not paying attention, and lack of light, he bumped softly into another person. "s..sorry." he muttered. "No problem." Alpha Richard said with a gruff, and came down quickly knocking the poor man out. Everything went black for a moment, This man was stripped bare and in a cage, listening to several voices. "How do we know she will come for him?"one said "She's compassionate, " a very familiar Alpha Richard responded. "And..why are we doing this?" a second, unfamiliar voice asked. "The seven council members want to hold me to my crimes for helping James, I know eventually Thorn will attempt to call on her for a decision, and if she does to me what she did to James, well I'm just not ready for that, but if she is brought back in parts and our pack just  'tried so hard to save her,'" he said in a sarcastic tone. "All should be forgiven." "What makes you think Thorn wont suspect us who did this in the first place? After all Thorn, Nick, and Mercer are the three strongest packs and if they form together we will all be at their mercy." The first unknown asked. "Ah well, you see," Richard started, "the Shaman is blind now." After her attack on James, I convinced everyone to attack her and even gave mercer a bottle of wolf's-bane to throw at her, and he got her in the eyes, I'm sure that she's blinded. I made sure each member of the council would hate her, and while the other seven are remorseful about it, I want her gone." "HE'S AWAKE!" A new voice shouted, this time closer to the man. "Good," Richard said. "This starts tomorrow, the scouts that have been in her forest say there's plenty of wildlife there, probably what she lives off of. So I want warrior troupe B to go through that forest and kill anything that moves, extra pay for anyone that brings back that super stupid bird spy of hers that flies around. After the forest wildlife is destroyed, troupe A will chase this i***t and attack him, but keep him alive...like a game of fetch." Richard laughed, as did the pack members that were around. "Chase him all over that forest, when he's good and close to death, she will come, and that's when all of you will show her that her precious forest and animals that live there are destroyed, she can feel it, i know she will feel their death. Don't kill her yet, we need the other packs to find all the dead animals and make it seem like she's gone mad, then they will see the dead human and we can make the believe she's been attacking random places, but we need to be discrete about it at first, people no one will miss for a few days." A quick shuffle of memories happened and he was looking at my face over him, with blood spurting everywhere, and suddenly he was on fire. The fire burned him entirely in a flash, and he stood face-to-face with Death itself. He had many questions racing through his mind while he took in the full presence of Death. "Are you ready?" death asked in a voice that could only be described as unnerving. "Why, how am I here?" the man asked, "I don't even know who I am." "You were murdered." Death answered. "By that woman?" the man said with hate. "No," Death replied, "that woman not only tried to save you, but now is trying to give you another chance, in exchange for something, you do owe her your gratitude." The man pondered for a bit, "What is this exchange?" He finally asked. "I wish for your soul," Death held up a lantern that gave off a pale blue light, "in exchange, you will become a monster, but one capable of paying the woman back, you will be able to shapeshift, mimic voices, and live until she dies. You wished for her to help you, and she did, now it is your turn to help her." The man nodded his head, and he found himself at my cottage, since he exchanged his soul to protect me, he was able to see where I was.
