  It was fruitless.   He hadn’t heard her plea. Freya slumped back in disappointment, already giving in to unconsciousness.   The rogues had already reached for her fur, and there wasn’t any strength left to fight them off. She remained there, on the floor, helpless and hopeless.   For a split second, it felt like the forest had gone silent, and all that was heard was the heavy breathing of the rogues.   But just as they were about to attack, a loud growl echoed through the forest, sending the rogues scampering and scattering in different directions.   Freya fluttered her eyes open, relief and happiness tugging at her heart after hearing his growl.   He’d come to save her.
