Chapter 3

"My Lady, you shouldn't have done that." Anna cried with a low voice. What have I done again? "My Lady, I really suggest we call the village herbalist, maybe she will be able to recommend something for you to regain your memories. I had no idea excess wine could really wipe out someone's memories." Anna suggested with a concerned voice. Whatever she was yarning about was of no concern to me. Something about that lady's gaze was unsettling, I really hate the feeling her gaze gave me. "Anna, who was that lady?" I inquired, my eye still fixed on the path of the hallway the lady walked. "That was Lady Claire, my Lady! And we are not supposed to cross paths with her not to talk of holding a conversation with her. We are in a deep mess now." Anna lamented with an anxious tone. "Is Lady Claire my sister?" I asked "Yes, my Lady. The sister we are meant to avoid at all costs." "Is Lady Claire my older sister?" "She is your younger sister, my Lady. You are three years older than her but that doesn't really matter right now..." "Then why do I need to be cautious of her, what did I do to her?" Anna's mouth was wide open in shock. "My Lady, you really don't remember?!" Oh s**t, what has my host done?! "Anna, which part of I have a hazy memory is so hard to understand? Please don't tell me I did something bad to her." "My Lady, it's sort of a long story and no one must hear me talking about it or the King will have my head." I sighed. Anna was so scared of the King that she wouldn't tell me what I did to my own sister to deserve such hatred. I have never had a sister before, I wasn't even close to my half brother in my past life, I was too busy nursing my trauma and being jealous of his perfect life to be a loving sister. I really want to win Claire over. I have to make her forgive me no matter what. "Fine then, let us continue our tour of the castle." I said, following Anna as she led the way. We couldn't cover the entire castle before lunchtime. It was a fascinating tour as I got to see new places in the castle. We headed back to the dining room so I could eat lunch alone, again. After lunch I was exhausted and really needed to rest. Anna escorted me back to my bedroom and said she would come back to wake me up so that I can get ready for the ball tonight. I got to my room and didn't even remove my dress before I collapsed on the bed. I smiled to myself, this is the perfect life. I get to eat good food for free, my bath water smells like heaven, I wear pretty dresses, how could this get better?! Things may be a little boring because there is no internet and hell do I miss TV but this is the price I will have to pay for comfort. I had no idea when I fell asleep. I was fast asleep when someone tapped me. I woke up and saw Anna. She was staring at me as I yawned and stretched. "My Lady, you need to prepare for the ball. I have prepared your bath water." "Again!" I whined like a baby on the bed. I looked through the window and the sun was still yet to set, if I was to guess I would say 4 o clock. "But doesn't the ball hold by night, why do I have to bathe so early?" I asked while rolling in bed. "My Lady, you know preparing you for the ball will take time. It will seem like you have all the time in the world until it's gone while you are applying makeup." She was right, Anna was more used to this world than I am, so she would understand all these things better. I sprang out of bed. Anna undressed me and we headed to the bathroom. My bath was relaxing. The water was warm just right and the sweet smell, I just can't get enough of it. It's still a bit awkward being bathed by someone, I sometimes tell her to hand over the wash cloth but she always keeps insisting the King will have her head, when she says that even I feel powerless against this King. I told Anna to brief me about the kind of nobles I will be meeting at this ball so that I won't end up embarrassing myself. She took her time to describe all the Kings, Queens, Princes and other notable people worth remembering. The names were hard to remember but I tried my best anyway. I knew I would be getting to meet important people but the most important person to me right now was the King. I was curious to know what he was like. I didn't want to rely on only rumors. The King might actually be a very good person and if he is not I will just be ready to jump out of the window. I turned to Anna, "What is the King's name?" I questioned her. She looked at me with a scared expression. "I have no idea, my Lady." She replied. Questioning Anna was a fruitless task. If I asked her any question she would always have a reply but when it comes to the King she was always clueless. I wonder what exactly the King must have done to her that she is so scared of him. I don't blame her, even I will be scared of a King who can chop off my head and no one would question him. After the bath I dried my skin with a soft cotton towel. After that I oiled my skin with a sweet smelling, expensive looking oil. Then I used a perfume that was so expensive Anna said I only wore it for important occasions. I put on my corset and Anna made it extra tight so that I could achieve a snatched waist. The corset I wore in the morning was way more comfortable than this current s**t that was restricting my breathing. "Anna! Does it really need to be this tight, I can't even breathe." I cried as Anna tightened the corset. "My Lady, you always insisted that I made your corset as tight as possible. You said the King would like you better if your waist was slimmer." Oh I did! How would my host tolerate this suffocating thing for a King that won't even eat breakfast with her?! I guess since I am in her body now I would have to live on with this. After Anna tightened the corset it was time to put on the dress! I am so excited to put on that beautiful dress. I couldn't get my mind off of it since I saw it in the morning. The dress was of a darkish red color, made of velvet and decorated with pearls and diamonds. The dress was to die for! I will make heads spin and jaws drop at the ball when I put on this dress. I got into the dress and Anna gave me my beautiful jewelry to match it. I wore my shoes and had my makeup done and by the time I looked into the mirror I looked breathtaking. I couldn't believe my own eyes, I looked like a stunning, precious jewel in my dress. "You look beautiful, my Lady." Anna complimented me. She was damn right! I looked like a billion bucks. I twirled in my dress blushing at my own beauty, actually the beauty of this lady. Wait a minute! I have never asked what the name of my host is. I have always assumed my name was still Tasha and everyone calling me 'my Lady' didn't really help issues. I was about to ask Anna what my name was when we were interrupted by a knock on the door. She went to get the door and the person who knocked whispered something to her. She turned to me with a cheerful smile on her face. "My lady, it's time for the ball."
