Miles POV
I drove home, my mind racing as I thought about the night ahead. It was supposed to be a relaxing evening, but with everything going on, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I had a feeling that I was walking a fine line between keeping things under control and letting it all fall apart.
I parked the car in the driveway, took a deep breath, and walked inside. It was time to get ready for the evening. I quickly showered, making sure I looked presentable. A good outfit, some aftershave, and a little time in front of the mirror helped calm my nerves. I was still thinking about the conversation with Laura, and how she had left the restaurant so upset. I hated that things were tense between us, but I didn’t know what else I could do.
