Talia’s POV
I followed Kael through the forest, my legs screaming but my mind spinning faster.
“Where are
we going?” I thought, but the question felt useless. He did not answer. He never did. I had to
trust him. I did not want to, but I had no choice.
The trees grew thicker, the shadows longer. The moonlight barely touched the ground. My pulse
was still racing, my hands still tingling.
“That power… what is it? Why is it in me?” I wanted totouch my skin, to feel it, but I was afraid it would burn me or the forest or something I could not
see.
Kael moved silently ahead. I could hear his breath, steady and controlled, his muscles moving
with perfect precision. Every step he took made me aware of how little I understood about him,
how dangerous he was, and how much I was drawn to him. My stomach twisted.
“Why am I
drawn to him? Why does he scare me and make me feel safe at the same time?”
A sound made me stop. A branch snapping far off to the left. My heart jumped.
“They are still
out there,
” I thought. Wolves, humans, hunters, shadows. Something was watching. Kael
paused too, his golden eyes scanning the darkness. I felt heat rise in my chest. He was more
than a man. He was something else. Something powerful and deadly.
“Focus,
” I told myself.
“Focus on surviving. That is all that matters.
” I tried to steady my
breathing. My legs shook but I kept moving. Kael did not slow down. I tried to keep up, but I felt
every muscle burning. My pulse throbbed in my temples.
“I have to survive. I will survive. I
cannot fail now.
”
We came to a clearing. The moonlight spilled over the ground, silver and bright. My eyes
widened. The forest opened into a place that felt alive, almost sacred. Trees bent slightly as if
bowing. Shadows clung to the edges. My pulse surged.
“What is this place? Why does it feel
like home and danger at the same time?”
Kael stopped in the center. He turned to me, his golden eyes glowing faintly. I froze.
“Look at
me,
” I thought, but he was already looking. His gaze pierced me, reading me. I felt exposed,
raw, vulnerable. And yet I felt alive.
“I am not afraid. I cannot be afraid. I have to understand this.
I have to survive.
”
The air shifted. I felt it first, a vibration in my chest. Something was coming. Wolves? Hunters?
Something worse? My hands tingled again, the warmth spreading faster this time, stronger.
“Control it. Control it. You can do this,
” I told myself. My legs stiffened. My hands raised without
thinking. My pulse screamed in my ears.
A shadow moved at the edge of the clearing. I tensed. Kael moved instantly, his body a blur,
placing himself between me and the danger. The shadow came closer and I could see it now.
Another wolf, larger than the last, its eyes burning with hunger, its teeth glinting in the moonlight.
My stomach churned.
“Stay behind me,
” I thought. I could feel the power in me rising, burning. The wolf lunged. I
stepped forward. My hands glowed faintly. The air pulsed. The wolf yelped and stumbled back.
My heart raced. Kael’s eyes met mine. He nodded once, almost imperceptibly.
“We are doing
this together,
” I thought.
The wolf circled us, snarling, hesitant. My pulse was wild. My power surged, responding to the
fear and the danger. I could feel it in my chest, my hands, my legs. I could feel the forestwatching, alive with energy. I stepped closer to Kael. He did not speak, but I could feel the
strength in him, the warning, the trust, the test.
I raised my hands again. The warmth exploded outward in a wave. The wolf yelped, staggered,
and fell to the ground. My breath came in sharp gasps. Kael moved forward, tearing through the
shadows with deadly precision. Together we pushed back the threat, the forest shaking with
every movement, every pulse of power.
When the last wolf fell, silence returned, thick and heavy. My chest heaved. My hands glowed
faintly, my legs shook. Kael turned to me. His golden eyes softened just slightly, just enough for
me to see something dangerous and unreadable. My heart pounded. I was trembling but alive.
“I survived before,
” I thought.
“I will survive again. But this time I am awake. I am part of this
world. I cannot hide. I will not hide. I have to control this power. I have to survive. I have to be
ready.
”
Kael moved to the edge of the clearing, scanning the forest. I followed, trying to catch my
breath. The danger was gone for now, but I could feel it lingering, just beyond the shadows. My
mind raced with questions.
“Who is he? What am I? Why do I feel this power inside me? What
have I been reborn for?”
The moon shone brighter. The forest was alive. I felt the pull of something greater, something
dangerous. Kael did not speak. He never did. I understood. Words were not needed. We were
alive. We were dangerous. And the world we had stepped into was only beginning to reveal its
secrets.
I glanced at him. Golden eyes that could see everything. Strong, untouchable, terrifying. I
shivered.
“I am not alone. I cannot be alone. I have to survive. And maybe, just maybe, I have to
trust him.
”
The forest was silent except for the soft rustle of leaves under our feet. My chest still pounded.
My hands glowed faintly, warm and alive.
“I cannot let this control me,
” I thought.
“I have to
control it. I have to survive.
”
Kael moved ahead, silent and fluid, every step precise. I tried to match him, but my legs burned,
my breath came in short gasps.
“Why does he move like that? How can he be so strong, so
calm, so terrifying at the same time?” I wanted to speak, to ask, to demand answers, but my
throat was tight. I could only follow.
Shadows shifted around us. Eyes glinted in the dark. The hairs on my arms rose.
“They are still
out there,
” I thought. Wolves, hunters, shadows. Something waiting, something dangerous. Mypulse surged. My hands tingled hotter. My power wanted to come out again.
Control it. You can do this.
”
“Not yet. Wait.
We came to a small river. The water reflected the moonlight, silver and bright. I knelt and
touched it. The cold sent a shiver up my spine. My reflection stared back at me, pale and tired
but fierce. My hair was damp, my clothes torn. My chest heaved. My mind spun.
“I survived
before. I can survive now. But this is different. This is not just surviving. This is living, fighting,
becoming.
”
Kael stepped beside me. His golden eyes caught the moonlight. He did not speak. He never did.
I felt him measuring me, testing me. I did not know if he was warning me or preparing me. My
pulse beat in my ears.
“I can feel him. I can feel his strength. I can feel the danger. I can feel…
”
My hands tingled. The warmth spread faster. My power pulsed in rhythm with my heart.
A snap of a branch. My breath caught. Kael froze instantly, moving like liquid. My legs stiffened.
“Stay behind him. Trust him. Survive.
” The shadows at the edge of the river moved. Another
wolf, bigger and darker than before. Its eyes glowed like molten gold. Its teeth glinted. Hunger.
Death. I felt it radiating toward me.
My pulse surged uncontrollably. I stepped forward. My hands glowed brighter. The wolf yelped
and staggered back. Kael did not hesitate. He struck with speed and strength, cutting through
the shadows like a storm. I felt it. The thrill. The fear. The power in my chest screaming to be let
loose.
I could feel my heartbeat syncing with his. My power pulsing stronger. The wolf faltered. My
mind screamed.
“I can do this. I am alive. I am not just a girl. I am something more. I will survive.
I will fight.
”
The wolf stumbled back, eyes wide with fear. I did not understand how I had done it. My hands
glowed faintly. My legs shook. My chest heaved. Kael moved closer to me, his golden eyes
sharp and unreadable. I felt exposed, vulnerable, alive, and powerful all at once.More shadows shifted. More wolves. My hands flared again, a wave of energy shooting
outward. They faltered, staggered, unsure. My chest pounded. I wanted to collapse. I wanted to
scream. I wanted to run. But I could not. I would not. I was part of this now. I was not alone.
Kael moved with deadly precision, tearing through the darkness. I followed, every pulse of my
power answering his movements, our breaths syncing, our steps in rhythm. The forest seemed
alive, whispering, watching. I could feel the moon pulling at something inside me. Something
fierce. Something dangerous. Something alive.
Finally, the last wolf fell back into the shadows. Silence returned. Heavy, suffocating, alive. My
chest heaved. My hands glowed faintly. Kael stood beside me. His golden eyes caught the
moonlight. I could see him, see the danger, the strength, the watchfulness, and maybe…
respect.
I tried to steady my breathing. My legs trembled. My chest burned.
“This is only the beginning,
” I
thought.
“I am awake. I am alive. I am powerful. I have survived once. I will survive again. And I
will control this.
”
Kael moved to the edge of the clearing. I followed, silent, watching him, feeling him, wondering,
questioning. My pulse was still wild. My hands tingled. The forest seemed to pulse with it, alive,
dangerous, waiting.
I glanced at him. Golden eyes that saw everything. Strong, untouchable, terrifying.
“Why am I
drawn to him? Why does he scare me and make me feel safe? Why do I feel like I belong in this
danger?”
The moon was high now. My power hummed faintly, alive and wild. I felt the pull, the call, the
danger. I felt Kael’s presence beside me, solid, protective, dangerous, alive. My chest tightened.
My hands glowed brighter.
“I have survived before. I will survive again. But now I am not just surviving. I am awake. I am
alive. And I am ready."
