As the days passed, Clary grew closer to the pack. They accepted her as one of their own, and she felt a sense of belonging she had never known before.
But not everyone was happy about Clary's presence. A rival pack, led by a ruthless alpha named Victor, had been trying to take over the city for months.
Victor saw Clary as a weakness in Alec's pack and decided to use her as leverage. He sent his beta, a menacing werewolf named Marcus, to kidnap Clary.
Alec was frantic when he discovered Clary was missing. He rallied the pack and set out to rescue her.
They tracked Marcus to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Alec's heart was racing as he burst into the warehouse, ready to fight.
But to his surprise, Clary was not being held captive. She was standing tall, her eyes blazing with defiance, as she faced off against Marcus.
Alec's pride swelled as he realized Clary was not a damsel in distress. She was a strong and capable woman who could hold her own. Clary's heart raced as she ran through the forest, her feet pounding against the damp earth. She had been running for what felt like hours, but she knew she couldn't stop now. Not when she was so close.
Behind her, she could hear the sounds of her pursuers, their footsteps crashing through the underbrush as they gained on her. Clary's breath came in ragged gasps, her lungs burning with exhaustion.
Just when she thought she couldn't run anymore, Clary saw a flash of gray through the trees. She burst through the underbrush and found herself face to face with a massive werewolf.
The wolf's eyes locked onto hers, and Clary felt a jolt of recognition. This was Alec, the pack's beta and her friend.
Alec's eyes flicked to the trees behind Clary, and his expression turned grim. "Get behind me," he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Clary didn't hesitate. She darted behind Alec, her heart still racing with fear. Alec positioned himself between her and her pursuers, his body tense and ready to defend.
The pursuers burst through the trees, their eyes fixed on Clary with a hungry gleam. But Alec stood firm, his teeth bared in a snarl.
"Leave her alone," he growled, his voice echoing through the forest.
The pursuers hesitated, their eyes darting nervously to Alec. And then, as one, they turned and fled, disappearing back into the trees.
Alec watched them go, his body still tense with aggression. And then, slowly, he relaxed, his eyes flicking to Clary.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice softening.
Clary nodded, her heart still racing with fear. "Yeah," she said. "Thanks to you."
Alec's expression turned grim. "We need to get you back to the pack," he said. "It's not safe for you to be out here alone."
Clary nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards Alec. She knew that the pack would protect her, and with Alec by her side, she felt safe.
Together, they made their way back through the forest, the trees looming above them like sentinels. Clary knew that she would never be able to repay Alec for his protection, but she was determined to try.
