The Mafia King’s Forbidden Wife Chapter Eighteen: The Father’s Last Confession The message remained on Elena’s phone. Come alone. I need to tell you the truth before it’s too late. For several minutes, she simply stared at it. Her father. The man who had raised her. The man who had lied to her. The man who had become a stranger in the space of a few days. Every part of her told her not to go. But another part — the part that still remembered him holding her hand as a child, promising to protect her — wanted answers. Real answers. Not secrets. Not half-truths. The truth. --- Elena left the safe house quietly. She didn’t tell Adrian. And that decision bothered her more than she wanted to admit. Because a part of her knew what she was doing was dangerous. But another part of her was tired of waiting for people to decide when she deserved to know something. She needed to face her past. Alone. --- The meeting place was an abandoned Rossi family warehouse. A place Elena remembered from childhood. She used to come here with her father and watch workers move around, believing her family’s empire was built on honesty. She had been wrong. A car arrived. Her father stepped out. Marco Rossi looked different. Not like the powerful businessman everyone feared. Just like a tired man who had carried a burden for too long. “Elena.” She didn’t move. “Why did you ask me to come?” He looked at her sadly. “Because I don’t have much time.” Her expression changed. “What do you mean?” Marco looked away. “Victor knows everything.” A cold feeling entered her chest. “About the inheritance?” “Yes.” “About me?” “Yes.” “Then why are you helping him?” Her father closed his eyes. The question hurt him. Because he knew she had every right to ask. “I made mistakes.” “That’s not an answer.” “No.” His voice broke slightly. “It isn’t.” --- They entered the old warehouse. Marco opened a hidden compartment and removed a small box. He handed it to her. “Your mother left this for you.” Elena stared at it. “My mother?” “Yes.” “Why didn’t you give it to me before?” Her father looked ashamed. “Because I was afraid.” “Of what?” He looked directly at her. “Of losing you.” Elena frowned. “You already lost me.” The words hurt him. But she needed him to hear them. --- Inside the box was an old letter. Elena opened it carefully. Her mother’s handwriting appeared. My dear Elena, If you are reading this, it means the truth has finally found you. Her heart tightened. I wanted you to have a normal life. I wanted you to grow up without the darkness surrounding our family. A tear fell from Elena’s eye. But some things cannot remain hidden forever. She continued reading. Your blood carries a legacy that many people will try to control. Do not let anyone convince you that power is what makes you valuable. Elena stopped. Her mother knew. She knew this day would come. --- “What did you do, Father?” Marco sat down. “I made a deal with Victor.” The words were quiet. Elena looked at him. “Why?” “Because I was losing everything.” “Your empire?” “Yes.” “Your power?” He looked down. “Yes.” She shook her head. “So you sacrificed everyone because you were afraid of losing control?” A painful silence followed. “Yes.” The honesty almost made it worse. “My ambition destroyed your mother.” Elena froze. “You killed her?” “No!” Marco’s voice cracked. “No, Elena. I didn’t kill your mother.” He looked devastated. “But I helped create the situation that led to her death.” --- Before Elena could respond, a sound came from outside. Cars. Many cars. Her father’s expression changed. “He found us.” “Who?” Marco looked toward the door. “Victor.” The warehouse suddenly filled with armed men. Elena stepped back. Her father moved in front of her. Protecting her. Like he used to. “Run.” She stared at him. “What?” “Run, Elena.” “I’m not leaving you.” A sad smile appeared on his face. “For once in my life…” He looked at his daughter. “Let me do something right.” --- The doors opened. Victor Moretti entered. Clapping slowly. “How touching.” Elena’s blood ran cold. Victor smiled. “Father and daughter reunited.” Marco’s face hardened. “You won’t touch her.” Victor laughed. “You still don’t understand, Marco.” His eyes moved to Elena. “She is the future.” --- At that moment, Elena’s phone rang. Adrian. She didn’t answer. It rang again. And again. Until finally, Victor noticed. “Interesting.” He smiled. “The Mafia King is looking for his wife.” Elena froze. “He knows?” Victor laughed. “Oh, Elena.” He stepped closer. “You still don’t understand.” He leaned forward. “Adrian De Luca doesn’t just protect what belongs to him.” A pause. “He destroys anyone who tries to take it away.” --- Meanwhile, at the safe house… Adrian stared at Elena’s empty room. His heart sank. She was gone. And on the table was one thing. Her wedding ring. For the first time in years, Adrian De Luca felt something close to panic. Not because his enemy had attacked. Not because his empire was threatened. But because the one person he had sworn to protect… Had disappeared. “Find her.” His voice was cold. Deadly. “Bring my wife home.” Because whoever had taken Elena Rossi had made one mistake. They had forgotten one thing. The Mafia King didn’t forgive anyone who touched what he loved.
