The Mafia King’s Forbidden Wife Chapter Six: The Secret Behind Her Necklace The necklace had always been a part of Elena Rossi’s life. She never remembered a time without it. As a child, she used to believe it was just a beautiful piece of jewelry her mother had given her. A small silver pendant with a strange symbol carved into the center. Her mother had always told her the same thing: "Never take it off, Elena. No matter what happens." Back then, Elena thought it was simply a mother’s way of protecting her. Now, after everything she had discovered… She wondered if her mother had been warning her. --- The next morning, Elena sat in front of the mirror, holding the necklace between her fingers. Her mother’s face appeared in her memories. The sound of her voice. The warmth of her smile. The secrets she never told. A knock interrupted her thoughts. “Come in.” Adrian entered. For once, he didn’t look like the untouchable billionaire everyone feared. He looked tired. Like he had spent the entire night fighting battles nobody knew about. “Did you sleep?” Elena asked. The question seemed to surprise him. “A little.” She almost smiled. For some reason, she found it strange that Adrian De Luca — the most feared man in the city — could admit something as simple as being tired. Then his eyes moved to the necklace. And everything changed. “What?” Elena noticed his expression. “What is it?” Adrian walked closer. “Where did you get that?” She touched the pendant. “My mother gave it to me.” His face became unreadable. “Take it off.” Elena immediately frowned. “No.” His eyes met hers. “Elena.” “No.” She stood. “You don’t get to walk in here and order me to remove something my mother gave me.” For a moment, they stared at each other. Then Adrian lowered his voice. “You don’t understand what you’re wearing.” “Then explain.” Silence. Again. Elena crossed her arms. “You know, one day you’re going to realize that saying nothing is not the same as protecting someone.” Something flashed in his eyes. Pain. But it disappeared quickly. “That necklace belonged to your mother before she died.” “I know.” “No.” He stepped closer. “You don’t.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out an old photograph. Elena took it. Her breath caught. It was her mother. But she wasn’t alone. Standing beside her was a younger Adrian. And around her mother’s neck was the same necklace. “How…” Elena looked at him. “How did you have this?” Adrian looked away. “Your mother trusted me with many things.” “Then why did everyone say you were enemies?” “Because we were.” His voice became quieter. “But not in the way you think.” --- Adrian led Elena to the library. For the first time, he opened a locked drawer in front of her. Inside were old documents. Letters. Photographs. Memories. “This is everything your mother left behind.” Elena stared. “You kept all of this?” “Yes.” “Why?” Adrian looked at the items. “Because she asked me to.” Elena froze. “My mother asked you?” He nodded. “Before she died, she knew someone was trying to destroy both families.” “What did she know?” Adrian picked up an old letter. “She discovered that someone inside the Rossi family and someone inside the De Luca family were working together.” Elena’s eyes widened. “Working together to do what?” “To create a war.” She shook her head. “Why?” “Power.” Adrian’s voice hardened. “Your father and my father were both powerful men. But someone wanted them to destroy each other so they could take everything.” Elena looked at the documents. “And my mother found out?” “Yes.” “Then who killed her?” Adrian didn’t answer. He didn’t have to. Elena understood. “Someone close to her.” --- A sudden sound came from outside. Adrian immediately became alert. His phone rang. He answered. A few seconds later, his expression turned cold. “What happened?” A pause. “Keep her safe.” He ended the call. Elena noticed. “What is it?” Adrian looked at her. “Your father left.” “Left?” “Yes.” “Why?” His expression darkened. “Because he wasn’t alone when he came here.” Elena’s stomach tightened. “Who was with him?” Adrian hesitated. Then he said: “Someone from my past.” Before Elena could ask more, the mansion lights flickered. Once. Twice. Then went out. The same thing that happened during the attack. Adrian immediately moved toward her. “Stay close to me.” Elena looked around the dark room. “How many enemies do you have?” Adrian’s answer was quiet. “Enough.” A shadow moved outside the window. Elena saw it. Someone was watching them. Then her phone buzzed. A message. Unknown number. You’re wearing the key. Her blood ran cold. Another message appeared. Your mother died protecting it. Elena slowly looked at Adrian. He had seen the message. And for the first time… The fear in his eyes was impossible to hide. “What key?” Elena whispered. Adrian stared at the necklace. Then at her. “The key to an empire.” The room fell silent. Because Elena finally understood. Her mother hadn’t left her a memory. She had left her a secret. And everyone was willing to kill for it.
