I shot to my feet when I heard Klaus's voice through the phone. Rai had probably forgotten to end the call. Therefore, I could hear what was going on rather clearly.
"I'll go straight to the point, Mr Vidal. You are currently engaged, are you not?" Klaus said and I winced.
"Yes, but--"
"You should stop trying to weasel your way back into my daughter's life. I won't allow it. She deserves better."
"Your daughter?" Rai said, his voice tinged with disbelief. The line ended and I started to pace. It was strange how I started to feel nervous.
My phone rang and I picked the call right away. It was from Klaus.
"I heard that you went to see Rai," I said.
"Already? That was fast."
He sounded amused.
"Did you really have to do that? Why didn't you tell me you were coming over?"
