10 “Lookit! I Made a Monkey!” On the way home Zeb ventured into the woods, hoping to catch another glimpse of the Aleph. He crept into a quiet and secluded spot and crawled under the cover of a large bush where he waited quietly. He imagined he was a tiger, king of the jungle, at home in his domain. He listened to the birds singing and their wings flapping in the wind, and the various rummaging, scrimmaging, scrambling sounds of creatures moving about the forest. He saw mice, hedgehogs, squirrels and even a fox, but there was no sign of the Aleph. Zeb stood up and was about to head home when he heard a low, warm thrumming sound somewhere in the distance.
