Quarrel between sisters [1]

1470 Words
“You’ll be mine and no one else’s from now on.” Those words echoed relentlessly in Amaia’s mind as she lay on her bed, lost in a sea of thoughts. ‘Me? His? Is this guy serious?’ A low chuckle escaped her as she shook her head in disbelief. ‘Who does he think I am? That Alpha is not only a weirdo, but clearly a delusional one too!’ Though Alpha Dixon wasn’t known for making jokes, his statement struck her as almost absurdly funny in a twisted way. The bitterness of the situation made her laugh, but it was a hollow sound. “He sure knows how to drive a girl insane, one way or another,” she muttered, her gaze drifting to her wardrobe. ‘Seriously, where are my clothes?’ Amaia thought, a frown forming as she got up from the bed. Puzzled, she began scanning the room, her eyes landing on her dressing table. It, too, was eerily bare. “What?” she whispered, alarm creeping into her voice. She rushed over and opened the drawers, only to find them just as empty. Panic began to rise. She spun around, taking in the stark emptiness of the room. It looked as though it had been stripped clean, like no one had ever lived in it. “What is going on here? Where are all my things?” she mumbled, her heart racing as she moved frantically around the room, searching for any sign of her belongings. But everything was gone. Amaia’s gaze dropped as she tried to make sense of what was happening, her mind racing. She darted her eyes left and right in deep thought. Then, something clicked. Her eyes widened in sudden realization. “Veera,” she whispered aloud. It had to be her. Amaia blinked, her mind scrambling for evidence to support her suspicion. Slowly, she nodded. “Yes, it was her. Of course, it was. Veera was so sure I wouldn’t survive… she even told our parents to expect me to go missing. Emptying my room fits perfectly with her mindset. She’s always wanted me out of the picture.” Amaia blinked, her eyes now teary. She let out a shaky breath moving to sit back on the bed, her legs weak. ‘I helped her,’ she thought bitterly, her heart aching. ‘I just wanted to be a good sister. I agreed to the deal, despite the danger, because I wanted her to love me… to treat me like family… like a sister should. Is that too much to ask for? She must’ve truly wanted me dead.’ Tears silently streamed down her face as she scanned the empty room, her heart tightening. “What did I do to deserve this? Parents like mine, a sister like Veera…” Her breathing quickened, anger slowly boiling to the surface. She clenched her teeth and stared at her hands. “Can I keep living like this? What future do I have if I remain trapped in this cycle? I’m doing nothing with my life… I’m worthless to myself and the continent as a whole. I can't... I really can't… I can't always give them what they want.” Amaia sat in silence for a long while, lost in her swirling emotions, until faint noises from outside the house broke through her thoughts. Amaia stormed out of her room, fueled by rage, her footsteps echoing as she hurried down the stairs. Halfway down, she spotted Veera entering the house, flanked by two girls. Her steps faltered. ‘Wait… aren’t those the girls who was bullying Veera? What are they doing here?’ Veera noticed her and sneered, her voice dripping with mockery. “Oh, perfect timing. My body was starting to itch at the thought of calling your name,” she said, shuddering dramatically, her face scrunched up in disgust. Amaia rolled her eyes, refusing to be baited. She marched up to Veera and demanded, “What did you do to my room?” Veera scoffed and shoved Amaia back, creating a deliberate distance between them. “They’re here to see if you’re really alive,” she said coldly. “And frankly, we’re having a hard time believing it,” Liza added with a smug smirk. Amaia glanced between the three of them, her frustration growing. “I went to the event, just like you wanted,” she said, voice steady. “I touched the Alpha. Nothing happened.” “Something should have happened, you b***h!” Veera suddenly exploded. Her voice shook with fury. “You should have just died just like the rumors circulated. You being alive isn't plausible. Your death would have been. You being alive ruins everything! Do you have any idea what that means for me?” Amaia stared at her, bewildered. “What are you talking about, Veera? Did you actually want me to die? I don’t get it. Wasn’t the whole point of this to see what happens when someone touches the Alpha? You never said anything about me dying. I agreed to that stupid deal because I thought—” Before she found finish, Veera swiped her hand in the air, and something suddenly struck her across the face with a sharp slap. Amaia gasped, her hand instinctively flying to her stinging cheek. “Stupid deal?” Veera snarled, stepping toward her with a dark intensity. Amaia backed away, her heart pounding as Veera loomed closer, especially as Veera’s eyes turned golden yellow. Suddenly, a gust of wind whipped through the room, pulling Amaia forcefully toward Veera. Then— “Ahhh, urgh!” Amaia was flung backward, crashing painfully onto the stairs. She groaned, gasping as she lay there, her body wracked with pain. “Ow,” she whispered, her breath shaky. She lifted her head, eyes wide with fear as Veera continued to approach her with a menacing stride. “What the hell do you want from me, Veera?!” Amaia yelled, her voice thick with frustration and pain. “I did what you asked! I did something you would never do for me! I risked my life for you—” “People who risk their lives for others don’t go around announcing it, don’t you think?” Veera interrupted coldly, now standing over her. Amaia’s chest heaved as she struggled to catch her breath, still sprawled on the floor. “I haven’t done anything to you, Veera. Just leave me alone…” Before she could say more— Punch! Amaia’s head snapped to the side as Veera’s fist connected with her face, the sudden impact leaving her dazed. “Leave you alone? Me?!” Veera’s voice was venomous. “You should be the one leaving! For once, you could have actually been useful, but no! As usual, you’re nothing but a useless nuisance in my life! Why can't you go?! I want you gone!” Her hands jerked sharply to the left, and before Amaia could react, a powerful force hurled her against the wall. Amaia screamed as her body hit the surface with brutal force. But Veera wasn’t finished. She continued manipulating the air, flinging Amaia side to side like a rag doll. Amaia’s screams echoed through the room as she was thrown against the walls, the floor, and the furniture, her body colliding with every object in her path. Liza and Dia stood by, watching in silence, neither lifting a finger. Veera laughed, a chilling sound that rang out amidst Amaia’s cries of pain. With one final gesture, she drew Amaia toward her, pulling her trembling form closer with a cruel smile. Amaia shuddered, her body shaking with pain, her eyes wet with tears. Her heart raced, bruises and cuts marking her skin, her breath ragged and shallow. “Do you see now that you’re nothing compared to me, Amaia? You are worthless, and I am everything! So don’t you ever speak to me with disrespect again—do you understand?!” Veera screamed, her voice dripping with anger. Amaia’s tear-filled eyes burned with defiance as she glared up at her sister. This wasn’t the first time Veera had treated her like she was nothing—like a broken, discarded doll. Amaia had endured it for too long. Veera had everything—the strength of her wolf, control over her affinity—while she was left with nothing. Powerless. The realization cut deeper than any wound, and the frustration of being unable to defend herself made her blood boil. Her hands trembled, her jaw clenched in rage. She had enough. “I’m sick and tired of you too!” Amaia shouted, her voice trembling with fury as she suddenly grabbed Veera’s wrist. Veera’s scream pierced the air, her eyes widening in shock as her wrist began to sizzle and burn under Amaia’s touch.
