The brother lunged for the landlord, his blade out, but Giles’ arm struck out, deflecting the young man’s thrust, his other hand fastening about his wrist so that the blade fell to the ground. “Not a wise move!” Giles said, as he knocked the lad back onto the table, the sisters screaming in alarm. He didn’t feel the cudgel being lifted from his belt soon enough and before he knew it, Catus’ arm had swung and struck the brother on the right hand with an audible crunch.
