A MONTH LATER

Venus continued living with the family and their strange lifestyle, she wasn’t given the so-called Red wine again to avoid any kind of suspicions. During one of the days, an uninvited guest visited the home, it was Orpheus’s father, who they called Supreme Leader or Lord Sebastian, Venus found both names weird and wondered if they were in some kind of ancient or mythical movie.

Lord Sebastian awareness about Venus disturbed him.

“I told you already father, she’s ours now, theirs no way they’ll get to her”

“I don’t care if she’s yours or not, they’ll find her no matter the circumstance and you know that so well….you know them so well, they’d do whatever it takes to take her away from you”

“Over my dead body will they do such a thing”

“Fine then, we shall see” The old man croaked as he took a sip from his goblet.

Venus heard the conversation and was really disturbed, first it was her having mysterious powers and now they were coming to take her? She got into the library to cool off , who were this her so called family really? And who was taking her away? She thought as she scarred the bookshelf looking for something to read, she stopped by a book, it was handwritten not printed, the title was “THE SECRET OF US”, she was eagerly excited to read it, she sat down and slowly, page by page read every single thing in its content.

At the end of the book, Venus was in tears , shock and fear, she couldn’t believe her new family were all VAMPIRES, now she knew were the strange sculptures, the so-called Red wine which was actually blood and Alvida’s word, she quickly kept the book in an opposite direction upside down than it was before and ran out.

The Supreme Leader later visited the library, he knew someone had tempered with their secret and he called for a meeting for nothing else but Venus’ initiation.

Before the meeting was held, Venus locked herself in the room and cried, she thought of way to escape, she didn’t want anyone to know she was sneaking out, she arranged her clothes in a small backpack and tied the rest end to end together to form a long rope which could get way down to the mansion from the window in her room, she was going to use this to escape. Right before crossing the window, she heard a knock, her heart skipped, she quickly threw her bag under the bed, fell the window curtains and covered herself in a robe , she made a pale face and opened the door. It was Carissa…..

“Hey, Lord Sebastian wants you to join us in the dining”

“Oh.. uhm….“Venus sneezed, “I’ll be there soon, I’m kinda having a cold and a running fever, tell them to give me a minute”

Carissa creased her brow,nodded and walked away. As soon as Venus saw her leave, she locked the door and took her robe off, she got her bag and crossed the window, just then,she heard a voice…..

“Where are you going?”

Venus paused, she slowly turned around and saw Sophie staring sadly at her, she stood up and moved towards her with anger and sadness in her eyes…

“I never knew you guys were blood suckers”Venus spat angrily, Sophie blinked

“Now you know the truth, I’m so happy you found out, now you have the chance , leave already you’re never gonna have a good life been a vampire just as we are, so go”

Venus paused in shock, she thought Sophie was going to try to stop her but the little girl made no efforts

“Why don’t you come with me then? You’re not happy the way you are right?”

“I can’t , it’s my destiny, I can’t change it”

“That’s why it’s your destiny, you can decide wether or not to change it, you’re still so young and you deserve a happy life Sophie, not in this bondage” Sophie shook her head

“I can’t……”

“You can Sophie”Venus held her palm “you can Sophie, come on, let’s get the hell outta here” Sophie breathed out heavily, she looked at Venus and nodded, Venus smiled assuringly

“Ok, let’s go” Venus smiled, they slowly and carefully escaped through the window with the rope Venus made.

After hours of waiting, Antonius decided to go call her himself but Quinn went along, after several knocks, they got in and found the room empty seeing the rope they used to escape….

“Oh sh*t” Antonius cursed, they looked down the window

“They escaped?” Quinn asked

“As you can see, dear nephew” Antonius said sarcastically, he called for others and they set out immediately to find Venus and Sophie.

It was dark in the forest and the bushes had become thick, the trees were so tall as the leaves could not be seen, Venus and Sophie kept running deeper into the bushes, they became tired and crouched by a rock to rest.

“Where do you think we’re going now?” Sophie asked

“I’m going back to California”

“New York? Do you know how long it takes to even leave this forest? We can’t even find a way outta here”

“Don’t worry, I have an idea.”

“You don’t remember how you were brought in?” Venus shook her head

“What about you? You’ve spent your whole life with them but you can’t even remember the route out of here?”

“Haven’t been out my whole life ”

Slowly, Sophie fell asleep, Venus stayed awake as she thought about her life and what awaited her in the future, she has started to doze off when she noticed someone’s presence, she tried to wake Sophie up but she was suddenly grabbed roughly by the arm, her scream woke Sophie up, someone else grabbed Sophie, Venus tried to escape but the persons grip was so tight.

“You’re such a betrayal Sophie ”Orpheus voice was heard as his face became clear in the dark.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry father…….” Before she could finish, Orpheus slapped her hard.

“No, let her go, you killers” Venus cursed, Orpheus turned to her and held her arm tightly.

“Ouch… get off me, you blood sucking demons” Orpheus eyes widened “you think I won’t figure that out? You all lied to Mrs Grayson, you’re all liars” Venus yelled angrily

“Shut up”Orpheus yelled,”take them away” he ordered, Venus kicked Quinn in the groin and loosed herself from Orpheus as she dashed off.

“Sh*t!!” Quinn cursed in pains

“Should we go after her?” Grayson asked

“No need, let her go, we’ll get to her later, she won’t find a way out” Orpheus said as they walked away with Sophie.
