It was clear to Venus, she opted the decision of living with her new family with the impression they gave, she’d really have a hard time living with them.
“Hi, I’m Sophie” a little girl who was in no doubt 13 years of age said with a smile, she had a long, white, thick hair.
“Hi Sophie, nice meeting you”Venus replied
“Well…I’m the last child of this family and i promise you’ll enjoy your stay here”
“Thanks”Venus replied with a tone of ease , Atleast there was someone who wanted to be her friend even though she was a little older than her.
“Oh….. k, so we’ve seen the so called new sister, what else?” A guy likely to be the same age with Venus with tattoos drawn all over his skin asked nonchalantly , his name was Panthous
“Stop it kids be nice” cleopatra said
“What else is there to be nice for? Oh I get it….. OMG… OMG, it’s my new sister” Another guy said mockingly and few of them laughed as they began walking out one after the other leaving Quinn and Sophie with her.
“Psst…. Psst” Cleopatra called Quinn,she nudged at him to talk to Venus , he hesitated but finally stood up and said..
“Come on, I’ll show your room”
“I’ll gladly accompany you”Sophie added
They led Venus up the stairs, three floors away , it felt like a punishment for Venus because she had to drag her luggages herself. The room was quite huge, there was a painting at the top of her bed, it was a blindfolded woman with blood all over her, she had long nails and scary teeth, Venus flinched at the sight of the picture. Sophie and Quinn noticed…..
“Hey, you don’t have to be scared, it’s just art, the others in my room are terrific”Sophie assured
“Sorry?.. others??” Venus asked in shock
“Yea… I gat a witch, a human eating monster and a….”
“No, it’s ok, it’s fine, I’m fine, just… stop talking”Venus interrupted, Sophie giggled
“So….tell me Venus, where are you from?”
“California”
“Okay?.. what happened to your parents?”
“Sophie that’s enough ”Quinn called and gave her a warning stare
“Sorry, I just don’t wanna talk about it ”Venus answered Sophie
“Oh really?, you can talk to…..”
“SOPHIE!!!”Quinn half yelled, Sophie flinched
“Ohh…. k, I’ll make us cookies”Sophie said and happily leaped out as her hair bounced rhythmically with her. Venus sighed and sat on the huge bed
“You okay?”Quinn asked
“Yea, I’m fine”
“I know you’re scared for my siblings hatred towards you” Venus shrugged
“I’m not scared, just wondering how my life will be now especially living with people that don’t like me” Venus explained
“They’ll come along apart from Alvida, when she says she hates you, she does hate you”
“Oh, your mother got twelve kids right?” Quinn nodded
“What about the other three?”
“Yea, Darius and Damion are twins, they’re uncle Antonuis’s sons while Carissa is Grayson’s” Venus folded her lips and nodded
“I get it know. By the way, what did Alvida mean by “fresh blood”?” She asked, Quinn paused,
“Uhm… nothing, don’t listen to her, she’s just blabbing, she does that all the time”Quinn answered
“Have you lived here for a while?”
“For ages, you mean?”Quinn asked with a smirk
“Uhm… maybe?”Venus answered with creased brow trying to understand his words
“Yea, since I was born”he answered quickly not giving her a chance to think about what he just said
“How do you cope living in this creepy place?”
“Oh…. Our lives’ creepy Venus” Quinn added with a grin. Venus paused, she gulped….
“What do you mean by….. your lives’ creepy?”Quinn chuckled and walked to the door
“Some questions are not meant to be answered, cause it’s CRTIC’S PLACE” Quinn grinned and walked out slamming
the door which made Venus flinch badly, she breathed out heavily and stared around the room as she began arranging the room.
TWO DAYS LATER
Most of the family members had learnt how to interact with Venus except Alvida who still stuck to her hating her, Sophie and Quinn were the closest to her more than anyone else in the family. Venus was thankful, the past few days she had spent there wasn’t that horrible apart from Sophie’s horrific stories.
On this particular day, they decided to have a family feast, the evening before the feast was to begin, Cleopatra gave Venus a black gown made of shining linen, pebbles and stones, the gown looked gorgeous on her.
At midnight, the whole family gathered at the huge dining hall, food and drinks were neatly served and they all began eating, after eating, Orpheus got up to make a short speech, afterwards, some maids came in with jugs and some kind of ancient cups, they were served what Orpheus called “Red wine”but it wasn’t red wine to Venus, the smell alone could make one throw up and the texture was just too thick to be red wine.
“On this day, we celebrate with our fathers and ancestors for granting us a wish every man would wish for, a daughter whose powers is not of this earth, whose gift is straight from the heavens….”As he spoke, Venus stared in awe, what powers was he talking about?
“Join me to raise a glass as I toast to a new part of this family, a new page and a new seed, VENUS!!!”Orpheus yelled
“VENUS!!!”They all chorused and gulped down the cup of wine.
“Why aren’t you drinking your wine?”Quinn asked after noticing she was staring at the content in the cup with disgust
“Are you sure this is wine or more like… blood”Venus asked irritatingly, Quinn sighed
“It’s red wine, a special wine made by my father, go on, your first taste will make you want more”Quinn answered as he persuaded her to take the wine. Venus exhaled gulped the content down in a haste, she threw done the cup and held her stomach using her other hand to cover her mouth trying not to throw up.
“Are you okay? Venus?”Quinn asked
“What’s happening to her? Is she okay?”The others asked
“Wha….. what did you…. ”before she could finish, she ran out in haste and threw up in one of the restrooms, Quinn got up to check on her but Orpheus interrupted
“Let her be, she’ll get used to it”.
