The mark of the moon

The room fell into deadly silence after Lucien’s words. Kael’s grip tightened around his throat hard enough to crack the wall behind him, but Lucien only smiled like he enjoyed provoking him. Liora’s heartbeat pounded painfully. She won’t belong to you. The sentence echoed inside her mind repeatedly. “I’m not anyone’s,” Liora snapped suddenly. Both men looked at her. For a brief second, surprise crossed Lucien’s face before amusement replaced it. “There’s the fire,” he murmured. Kael released him roughly. “Get out before I change my mind.” Lucien adjusted his jacket calmly as if he hadn’t just been pinned against a wall by an Alpha. “You should be thanking me,” he said lazily. “The other packs would’ve killed her already.” Nyra entered the room at that moment with several armed warriors behind her. The second she saw Lucien, her eyes narrowed dangerously. “Why is he still breathing?” Lucien smirked. “Nice seeing you too, Nyra.” She lifted one of her silver daggers instantly. “Give me one reason not to gut you.” “Because your Alpha still needs information.” Kael’s expression remained unreadable. “Talk.” Lucien’s red eyes shifted toward Liora again. “The Council knows about her awakening.” A heavy silence filled the room. Even Nyra looked uneasy now. Liora frowned. “What council?” Elias answered quietly, “The ruling authority of the werewolf territories.” “They control every major pack,” Nyra added coldly. “And they fear anything they can’t control.” Lucien nodded slowly. “Which means they’ll come for her soon.” Kael crossed his arms. “Let them try.” “You’re confident,” Lucien said. “But this isn’t just about power anymore. The Silver Luna mark has appeared.” Everyone’s eyes immediately fell to Liora’s wrist. The crescent symbol glowed faintly beneath her skin. Lucien’s expression darkened slightly. “That mark hasn’t been seen in over five hundred years.” Liora instinctively hid her arm again. “Can someone stop talking about me like I’m some cursed object?” “You are not cursed,” Elias said gently. Nyra muttered under her breath, “That’s debatable.” Kael shot her a warning glance. Liora exhaled shakily and stepped away from them. “I didn’t ask for any of this.” “No one ever does,” Kael replied quietly. For the first time since arriving, his voice lacked anger. It almost sounded… understanding. Before Liora could respond, pain suddenly ripped through her wrist again. She gasped sharply. The mark burned like fire beneath her skin. Silver light spread across her veins instantly. “Liora?” Elias stepped forward carefully. The room began shaking. Furniture rattled violently. Windows cracked. Liora grabbed her head as whispers flooded her mind again. Wake up… Remember… The throne awaits… “Make it stop!” she cried. Kael reached her first, catching her before she collapsed. The moment he touched her, the silver energy exploded outward. Everyone in the room was thrown backward except Kael. Liora’s eyes widened in horror as glowing silver mist surrounded her body completely. Then she saw it. Not the room. Not the mansion. A vision. She stood inside a massive ancient hall beneath a silver moon symbol carved into stone walls. Wolves surrounded her from every side, bowing their heads. At the center stood a throne. And sitting on it… Was her. But different. Older. Stronger. Her silver eyes glowed with terrifying power as blood stained the floor beneath her feet. Then the vision shifted. Fire consumed the kingdom. Bodies covered the ground. And standing in the middle of the destruction was a shadow with glowing red eyes. Lucien. Liora gasped as the vision shattered. The room returned instantly. She collapsed against Kael’s chest, breathing hard. Everyone stared at her in stunned silence. Lucien’s smirk had vanished completely now. “What did you see?” Kael asked quietly. Liora looked up slowly, fear filling her face. “I saw death.” The room became colder. Lucien stepped forward carefully this time. “What kind of death?” Liora hesitated. Then she whispered the words that made everyone freeze. “You were there.” Lucien’s red eyes darkened instantly. “And everything was burning.”
