Echoes of past life

The forest became deathly silent. Liora stared at Lucien as if the words themselves had struck her. “Reincarnated?” she repeated weakly. Lucien nodded once, calm beneath the moonlight. Kael immediately stepped between them. “Enough.” “But she deserves the truth,” Lucien replied. “She deserves stability before you start poisoning her mind.” Lucien’s red eyes narrowed slightly. “You think hiding things from her will protect her?” Kael’s expression darkened dangerously. “Careful.” Tension crackled between them like a storm ready to explode. Liora’s chest tightened. “Stop talking about me like I’m not standing here,” she snapped. Both men fell silent. Lucien looked at her again, but this time there was something almost sympathetic in his expression. “The Silver Luna bloodline doesn’t die naturally,” he explained quietly. “When one life ends, the soul is reborn into another body.” Liora shook her head immediately. “No. That’s impossible.” “Yet you carry memories that aren’t yours.” The words hit hard because they were true. The visions. The throne. The battlefield. The feeling that some places seemed familiar even when she had never seen them before. Kael’s voice remained cold. “Theories aren’t facts.” Lucien laughed softly. “You know as well as I do that the old legends spoke of rebirth.” Kael said nothing. That silence scared Liora more than any answer. “You knew?” she whispered. Kael looked at her carefully. “I knew it was possible.” The betrayal in her chest surprised her. “You should’ve told me.” “And overwhelm you more than you already were?” Kael replied sharply. “You’re barely surviving the awakening as it is.” Liora stepped back from him. “I’m tired of everyone deciding what I can handle.” Silver light flickered faintly beneath her skin again. Nyra noticed immediately. “Careful.” Liora forced herself to breathe slowly until the light faded. Lucien studied her thoughtfully. “Your memories are returning faster than expected.” Kael’s eyes narrowed. “Why?” Lucien’s expression darkened slightly. “Because the Shadow King is close.” A cold chill spread through the group. “The stronger he becomes,” Lucien continued, “the stronger her connection to the past becomes.” Liora crossed her arms tightly. “Why is he connected to me?” Nobody answered immediately. Then Elias finally spoke from behind them. “Because according to the oldest records…” His face looked pale. “The Shadow King loved the first Silver Luna.” Silence crashed over the forest. Liora blinked in disbelief. “What?” Nyra cursed quietly under her breath. Lucien looked unsurprised. Kael’s jaw tightened visibly. Elias swallowed hard before continuing. “The Lunar War supposedly began after the Silver Luna chose another Alpha instead of him.” Liora’s heart pounded painfully. “You’re saying this entire war started because of… love?” “Not just love,” Lucien corrected softly. “Obsession.” The word unsettled her deeply. Lucien stepped closer slowly, though Kael instantly tensed. “The Shadow King believed the Silver Luna belonged beside him. When she rejected him, darkness consumed him completely.” Liora’s stomach twisted. “And now he thinks I’m her.” Lucien’s expression turned serious. “No.” His red eyes locked onto hers. “He thinks you’re still his.” A dangerous growl escaped Kael immediately. Lucien smirked faintly. “There’s the Alpha again.” Before Kael could respond, Liora suddenly grabbed her head. Pain exploded through her mind. Another vision. Stronger than before. She gasped sharply as the forest disappeared around her. This time she stood inside a massive throne room illuminated by silver flames. Ancient wolves knelt around her while a man stood directly before the throne. Tall. Powerful. Dressed in black armor. She couldn’t see his face clearly— Until he lifted his head. Silver and black eyes. The Shadow King. But younger. Not consumed by darkness yet. He reached toward her gently. “I would burn kingdoms for you,” he whispered. Then another figure appeared beside her. Kael. Or someone who looked exactly like him. The two men stared at each other with pure hatred. The vision shattered violently. Liora stumbled backward into reality, breathing hard. Kael caught her before she fell. “Liora.” She looked up at him with wide eyes. Her voice trembled. “I’ve seen you before.” Kael froze. Lucien’s expression sharpened immediately. Liora stared at Kael like she was seeing him differently now. “You were there,” she whispered. “In my past life.”
