The alpha's claim

905 Words
Liora stared at Kael’s outstretched hand while the forest trembled with distant howls. Her mind screamed that this was impossible. Werewolves. Packs. Alphas. Silver Luna. None of it made sense. Yet the glowing silver veins beneath her skin were impossible to ignore. They pulsed faintly against her wrist like living light, slowly fading after Kael touched her. Another howl echoed through the trees. Closer. Kael’s expression darkened instantly. “Decide now.” Fear tightened around Liora’s chest. She looked behind her, but the forest path had disappeared beneath shadows and thick fog. Even if she ran, she wouldn’t know where to go. “What do they want from me?” she asked shakily. Kael’s jaw clenched. “Your blood.” A cold chill rushed through her body. Before she could speak again, branches snapped nearby. The wolves beside Kael growled lowly. Something was coming. Kael grabbed Liora’s arm and pulled her behind him. “Stay close to me.” She hated how safe his voice sounded. Three figures suddenly emerged from the darkness. Men. But not entirely human. Their eyes glowed amber beneath the moonlight, and their movements were unnaturally sharp, almost animal-like. One of them stepped forward, a scar stretching across his face. “Well,” he said with a cruel smile. “Looks like the rumors were true.” His gaze landed directly on Liora. “The Silver Luna lives.” Liora instinctively stepped backward. Kael’s voice turned deadly calm. “Leave.” The scarred man laughed. “You really think the other packs will let you keep her for yourself?” The air around Kael shifted dangerously. Even the wolves lowered themselves nervously. “She is under my protection,” Kael said. “No,” the man corrected coldly. “She belongs to whoever claims her first.” The moment the words left his mouth, the strangers attacked. Everything happened too fast. One of them lunged toward Liora, but Kael intercepted him instantly. A horrifying crack echoed through the forest as Kael slammed the attacker into a tree hard enough to split the bark. Liora gasped. No human could move that fast. The second attacker shifted midair. Bones snapped violently. Fur burst from skin. Within seconds, a massive black wolf landed on the ground with glowing amber eyes and exposed fangs. Liora stumbled backward in terror. “Oh my God…” The wolf charged directly at her. Before it could reach her, Kael transformed. Liora barely had time to blink before his body twisted violently. Dark fur spread across his skin as his massive wolf form emerged beneath the moonlight larger and far more terrifying than the others. His gray eyes glowed like silver smoke. The two wolves collided brutally. Growls thundered through the forest while claws tore into dirt and flesh. Liora backed away, trembling as chaos exploded around her. Then someone grabbed her from behind. She screamed. The scarred man held her tightly, pressing a blade against her throat. “Looks like the mighty Alpha got distracted,” he sneered. Liora’s breathing became uneven. Kael immediately stopped fighting. The giant black wolf turned toward them, growling dangerously. “Shift back,” the scarred man ordered. “Or I slit her throat.” For a moment, the forest became completely silent. Then Kael slowly returned to human form. Blood dripped from cuts across his chest, but he acted like he couldn’t feel the pain. His eyes remained locked on the man holding her. “You’re making a mistake,” Kael said quietly. The scarred man smirked. “No. You did the moment you let the Silver Luna awaken.” Liora’s heart pounded painfully. “What am I?” she whispered. Nobody answered. The man tightened his grip on her arm. “Do you even know what your blood can do? Entire kingdoms fell because of your kind.” Liora shook her head. “I don’t understand any of this” “You will.” Suddenly, silver energy burst from her body. The force exploded outward violently, throwing everyone backward. The scarred man screamed as silver light burned across his skin like fire. Kael looked stunned. Liora stared at her glowing hands in horror. The light surrounding her became brighter beneath the moon. The wolves whimpered. Even the forest itself seemed to fall silent. Then a strange symbol appeared on her wrist the same crescent moon from her dreams. Kael’s expression changed instantly. Not fear. Recognition. “The mark…” he muttered. Liora’s knees nearly gave out from panic. “Make it stop!” But the silver light only intensified. The attackers backed away nervously. “She’s stronger than the prophecy said,” one of them whispered. The scarred man glared at Kael before retreating toward the trees. “This isn’t over, Alpha. Every pack will come for her now.” Within seconds, they vanished into the darkness. The forest became silent again except for Liora’s shaky breathing. The silver glow slowly faded from her skin. Kael walked toward her carefully this time, as if she were something dangerous. Maybe she was. Liora looked up at him helplessly. “What’s happening to me?” Kael stared at the glowing mark on her wrist. “The Silver Luna has returned,” he said quietly. Then his cold eyes met hers. “And now the entire werewolf world will either bow to you…” He paused. “Or try to kill you first.”
