The nightfang pack

913 Words
The ride through the forest felt unreal. Liora sat silently on the back of Kael’s black motorcycle, gripping the edge of the seat as cold wind whipped through her hair. Her thoughts were tangled in fear, confusion, and disbelief. Every few minutes, she glanced at the glowing crescent mark on her wrist. It was still there. Proof that tonight had not been a nightmare. Kael drove without speaking. His expression remained cold and unreadable, but tension radiated from him like a storm waiting to break. The deeper they traveled into the forest, the stranger the atmosphere became. Liora noticed shadows moving between the trees. Eyes watching them. Wolves. Her heartbeat quickened. Finally, the motorcycle slowed near massive iron gates hidden beneath thick vines and dark stone walls. Torches burned along the entrance, casting eerie light across the ground. Two enormous wolves stood guard outside. The moment they saw Kael, they lowered their heads respectfully. The gates opened. Liora’s breath caught. Beyond the walls stood an entire hidden settlement built deep within the mountains. Large dark buildings surrounded a towering mansion at the center, its windows glowing beneath the moonlight. People moved through the streets carrying weapons. Some looked human. Others didn’t. A woman passed by with glowing golden eyes before disappearing into the crowd. Liora’s stomach twisted. This was real. Kael stopped the motorcycle near the mansion entrance and got off first. “Stay close to me.” Liora immediately climbed down. “Where exactly am I?” “The Nightfang Pack territory.” The large doors opened before they reached them. Several people were already waiting inside. An older man with silver hair stepped forward first. His sharp eyes widened the second he noticed Liora. “It’s true,” he murmured. Behind him stood a tall woman dressed in black leather with braided dark hair and piercing amber eyes. Unlike the others, she looked openly hostile. “This is the human?” she asked coldly. Kael’s expression hardened. “Careful, Nyra.” So her name was Nyra. The woman crossed her arms. “You brought her here knowing what she is. The council will lose their minds.” “I don’t care.” Liora glanced between them nervously. “Can someone please explain what’s happening?” The older man stepped closer kindly. “My name is Elias. I serve as the Nightfang healer.” His gaze softened slightly. “And you, child… are far from ordinary.” Liora laughed weakly. “Yeah, I’m starting to realize that.” Nyra scoffed. “You shouldn’t joke about this.” Kael suddenly removed his jacket, revealing deep claw wounds across his chest from the earlier fight. Liora stared. “You’re hurt.” “It’ll heal.” Elias sighed. “Not if you continue throwing yourself into battles every night.” Nyra’s eyes shifted toward Liora again. “The other packs already know she awakened, don’t they?” Kael nodded once. A heavy silence filled the room. Even Liora could feel the tension. Finally, Elias spoke carefully. “Then we don’t have much time.” “For what?” Liora asked. Before anyone answered, a loud howl echoed outside the mansion. Every person in the room instantly became alert. Nyra cursed under her breath. “Scouts returning.” Kael turned toward the doors. “Report.” A young man rushed inside moments later, breathing heavily. “Alpha,” he said urgently, “the Bloodmoon Pack crossed the eastern border.” Nyra’s face darkened. “Already?” “They’re searching the villages nearby,” the scout continued. “They’re asking about a girl with silver eyes.” Liora froze. Silver eyes? Kael looked directly at her. “Your eyes changed during the awakening,” he explained. Liora hurried toward a nearby mirror hanging on the wall. Her breath stopped. The reflection staring back at her looked almost the same… Except for her eyes. Faint silver rings now circled her dark irises, glowing softly beneath the light. “No…” she whispered. Fear crawled into her chest. She barely recognized herself anymore. Nyra stepped beside Kael. “This is getting worse faster than expected.” Kael remained silent. Liora turned toward them desperately. “Can someone stop speaking in riddles and tell me the truth?” The room became quiet. Then Elias sighed deeply. “Centuries ago,” he began, “there existed a bloodline unlike any other. The Silver Luna was said to possess power strong enough to unite every werewolf pack under one ruler.” “And destroy them,” Nyra added sharply. Elias nodded slowly. “Some believed the Silver Luna would bring peace. Others believed she would bring war.” Liora’s pulse quickened. “And you think that’s me?” Kael answered this time. “No,” he said calmly. “We know it’s you.” The words hit harder than she expected. Liora stepped backward slowly. “That’s impossible. I’m human.” Kael walked toward her. “You were never fully human.” The room suddenly felt too small. Too hot. Every answer only created more questions. “Then what am I?” she whispered. Kael stopped directly in front of her. For the first time, his voice softened slightly. “You are the last Silver Luna.” Before Liora could respond, the mansion lights flickered violently. A deep growl echoed somewhere outside. Then came screams. Everyone turned instantly. The scout paled. “Alpha…” Kael’s eyes darkened dangerously. “They’re here.”
