After Trevon parked his car in the garage under his bar, I gave him an awkward goodbye smile—still reeling from earlier—and hurried down the sidewalk toward the exit. “You’re not gonna stay for a drink?” Trevon shouted after me. I turned around and shook my head. “I have to go see Eros.” “Just one, Dani.” Trevon leaned against his car, voice tense. “It won’t hurt.” “I have to go,” I said, staring from Trevon to the exit of the garage and watching the snow drift down from the white sky. “I’ll see you soon. Thanks for coming with me.” And, with that, I zippered my coat and walked into the slush. What the hell had gotten into him?
