Cade’s POV
Hunter has been growling loudly in my head since feeling Alaia’s panic through our bond. I have never felt that level of worry before for anyone in my life. It was all consuming. Now, reading what this mystery person wrote on the note they left for Alaia, I am feeling it ten-fold. I want to scoop her up, carry her away to some deserted island, and make sure no harm ever comes to her. My rational brain realizes I’m being crazy. She’s an Alpha in her own right and she’s strong. She can handle it herself. Unfortunately, my rational brain isn’t in control right now, my heart is, and my heart is saying to protect my mate at all costs. This little ball of fire has quickly become my everything, and if I lost her I don't know what I would do. Hunter and I probably wouldn't survive it.
