Suffering in Silence

2571 Words

Cade’s POV My breathing quickly increased, and Hunter was whimpering nonstop in my head. “I don’t understand. How could she leave us? Is she going to reject us? Where did she go? I need to find her now..” My vision started to blur, and I could tell Hunter was trying to provide me with some strength, but it just wasn’t working to calm me down. Soon, I felt strong arms wrapped around me and I heard my father’s voice. “Calm down, Cade. I need you to take some deep breaths, son, okay? We will find Alaia, I promise, but I need you to calm down first.” I closed my eyes and tried desperately to do as my father said, inhaling deeply and slowly exhaling. My breathing soon evened out and my vision returned to normal. Dad continued to hold me tightly until I could speak without stuttering again.
