Miller was drawn out of his thoughts by the loud cracking sound of a ceramic plate as it came crashing on the ground followed by the angry voice of Davina as she scolded an agent who brought a plate of food to her.
“Do you expect me to feed on that rubbish? If you want to feed me, at least ask me what I would prefer.” Davina shouted at the agent as she flung the plate of food from his hands.
Miller walked towards them in order to inquire about the reason for the unnecessary noise.
“She is refusing to eat the food we brought for her.” The agent said to Miller.
“Well dear, what would you like to eat?” Miller asked, facing Davina this time.
“Chicken fried Lobster or nothing.” Davina replied confidently as if she was in some kind of a restaurant.
Miller walked a little closer to the Agent and whispered into his ears, “Why don’t you give her what she wants to eat, or would you rather take responsibility for her starving to death?”
“N..o si….r.” he replied in fear as he rushed to order for the food she requested.
“Wow! That was quite harsh of you.” Davina commended.
“My pleasure dear.” Miller said and just as he was about to take his leave, Davina called him back.
“Hey mister, I would appreciate it if you don’t use that word for me again because it seems like you love it a lot.” Davina interrupted.
“What word?” Miller asked, looking confused.
Davina went back to her seat “DEAR.” she replied.
Miller laughed out loud till his eyes turned teary, “I would think about it dear..........oh Uhmmmm........miss suspect.” He said as he continued laughing on his way out and infuriating Davina more.
"I came in with anger but she just relieved me." He muttered to himself.
"The mournful cry for help coming out from within the mansion which was on fire was tormenting. The blurry figure of a young teenage girl of probably 16 years of age was standing outside the mansion trying her best to get into the building and save the people in it. The fire was slowly taking over the whole place and it was also approaching the girl. She cried for help but it seems like help was the farthest thing away from her/them at that moment. She was only a girl trying to save the people trapped inside the building, but the fire soon caught up with her and the toxic smoke from the fire soon made her lose her consciousness right in front of the door.”
“Hey, hey, get it together and wake up.” Miller said, slightly joggling Davina who was already shivering from anxiety disorder.
As soon as she was conscious of herself, she stood up from the cell bed in which she was laying on and sat down on the floor with her hands wrapped around her folded legs and her head gently resting on her knee cap. The night was still very young but that would probably be all the sleep she would get that night.
“Having a night terror?” Miller asked handing a sachet of energy booster drink (which he was also drinking) to her.
“That’s none of your business.” She said, not minding his gesture.
“Ok then, at least have this drink so you can regain your energy before the interrogation.”
She looked up at him and smiled while collecting the drink, “There won’t be any interrogations.”
“She is right Mr. Witty, there won’t be any interrogations.” Hardin interrupted their conversation while referring to Miller.
“Sorry for wasting your precious time over unconfirmed accusations laid on you by our able Agent Miller Smith. You are absolutely free to leave now but it would be more advisable to wait till sunrise because it’s already past midnight. Lest I forget, here are your belongings.” Hardin concluded as he handed over Davina’s belongings to her.
Davina collected her belongings and went through them. She opened the back cover of her smartphone and wristwatch simultaneously and removed a small SD-Card sized tracking device chip from them and gave them to Hardin. “ I won’t be needing those.” She concluded and went back to bed with her backside relaxing on the Blue tiled walls of the cell wall. She gave the confused Miller a sly smile as she sat up on her bed and started operating her phone.
“What the hell is going on here?” Miller screamed at the top of his voice. “She is supposed to be detained and questioned, not released with an apology.” He protested, staring hard at Hardin who was now embarrassed by his silly act of bugging Davina’s phone and wristwatch.
“Well, well, well Mr. Witty, it looks like you’ve got the wrong person here because the warehouse we investigated was filled with barrels of farm produce”. Hardin scowled at Miller. “Here is a piece of advice for you, when next you are on suspension, stay far away from office work and don’t complicate things for others”. He concluded before walking out on them.
"I warned you never to call me that." Miller said, looking confused and highly infuriated.
The confused and furious Miller angrily left the FBI department and went straight to his house feeling utterly disappointed and outsmarted while Davina laid back in her bed happily sipping the drink Miller offered her as She always derives pleasure from outsmarting others.
Very early the next morning, Miller got dressed and rushed back to the department as he could barely get a wink of sleep. On his arrival, he saw Davina entering into a car and a guy who was continuously nagging her to take her drugs.
He locked eyes with Davina for a moment as if trying to read her thoughts before he went into the department. He was sure something was off but couldn’t place his hands on that thing which was what was making him furious and agitated.
