THERE I AM
Legs dangled over the forest floor, late afternoon shafts of light illuminating leaves with bright shades of green. Insects zoomed through the shafts, reflecting the light for a brief moment, like snowflakes in a blizzard.
The quiet stillness of this tiny place crawled across Eka’s skin and mind, growing since they’d gotten here a week ago.
How many times can I just watch everyone fly? Surf without a board? Create underground tunnels just by asking?
And she never wanted to see Haipo again. What she really needed was a trip. Away from Wakers and magic and memories. Or the lack of. Maybe check out the town.
