THE CITY OF PANDORA

chapter 8

Its funny how life is.When we are born we know nothing.All we know is we have to wake up ,eat do afew errands and sleep.As we grow older we learn more things,we are taught to shoot arrows,to hunt and fish .We play games and make friends.But as we grow even older things change for the better we find our own flame,we even fall in love and start families . But for the rest of our days we strive to fulfill our dreams.

A few days ago i had no purpose ,but after the death of that old lady,i just can't help it .Am here freezing in this cold mountains ,walking in this snow.No one is forcing me ,but i still feel a push from the inside i have to avenge her death.I have to save lives.This thoughts went on in Chaka's head as he dragged his feet in the cold snow.It was snowing heavily and everything was covered in the white snow.The bone chilling snow soaking through his skin made his whole body to shiver .He walked as if he would faint the next minute.The place was quiet and lonely .Because of the fog ,it was hard to see what was coming ahead. He suddenly turned to see how far he had gone .He saw a pack of six dogs pulling a cart in the snow.At first he was surprised but it hit him that it could be an enemy coming for him.The cart came nearer and nearer and suddenly stopped when it reached him.

It was carrying a dwarf with large ears.It looked like he was from a lineage of elves.He had a large bag too with him.

"Hey what are you doing in this deserted place."

T'challa gave the dwarf a quick gaze and continued walking.

"I guess you are headed to the temple,if you are ,then you still have miles and miles ahead ,you will need a warmer coat or you will freeze to death.

Chaka increased his pace at this point.

"I know who you are.You are the man that burried my mother,"the dwarf said.

T'challa stood,and as if in great disbelief he turned to the dwarf and asked.

"You mean the old woman that was murdered is your mother?"

"Just when i thought you were deaf and damn, boom, you spoke hahahahaha!,"he laughed sarcastically. "Anyway yes she was,thank you for giving her a honourable burial,she deserved better," the dwarf said as his mood suddenly changed.The laughter he had grew softer and softer,his teeth started to gnash as he fought the pain inside. And when he couldn't hold it in anymore, he bursted in tears.Chaka was so touched that he reached out to him and gave him a warm hug.

"So what are you doing here ,so far from home,"T'challa asked.

"The old woman was not my real mother ,she found me alone in the forest abandoned.People made fun of my ears ,they said i was a monster.They were so afraid of me,they said i was cursed.With her gone i had to flee,"he said as he sat on a rock and started to sob.

"So where were you headed to,"Chaka asked with great concern.

Zawadi stood up and gazed at the clouds.The cold snow fell softly on his face .

"I genuinely don't know,i just wanted to go anywhere else away from Mulungu."

"That is so sad ,"Chaka said with concern in his voice.

"I also don't have a specific place am going.I want to avenge your mother and the only way to do that is to find the city of greenland and the city of pandora.This way i can defeat the human enemies forever."

Chaka continued to sob .There was a weird silence between them.

"Yes ,yes ,i want to ,just tell me what i need to do."The dwarf was so happy at this point.He could not hide his joy.Chaka was like a warm beacon of light ,piercing through his dark broken heart ,giving him hope and purpose.He had been rejected by so many,and this was the second friend he had.

The two boarded the cart and they travelled for a while.After travelling for miles and miles ,they stopped and decided to camp for the night.They lit a fire and they roasted the meat that the dwarf had carrired .

"So what is the meaning of zawadi,"Chaka asked as he turned the meat.

"It means gift,my mother called me that when i was born,"he replied as he moved closer to the fire to warm himself.

"Did you have any siblings."

"Yes i have a twin brother,he left a few days after our mother left."

"Do you know where he is now."

"No i don't have a slightest idea of where he is.I wish i did."

By this time the meat was ready they cut it into half and they shared the meal.

After enjoying their meal they could no longer ignore their body's need for rest They spread their coats side by side just next to the fire.It didn't take so long before zawadi started snoring like a pig.

Chaka was left struggling with the mosquitoes.

It was at this point that he remembered Shandra .He imagined where she could be now.Was she safe?Why didn't he even say goodbye?Will he ever see her again?He fell asleep as he was still thinking of her.

Chaka woke up to sharp sunrays cutting through the tree leaves.The sight of the rising sun made his heart peaceful for a while.It made his freezing body warm.He sat there bursking in the sun for a while.

It was a beautiful morning.Zawadi was still snoring like an old pig.T'challa took a bottle of water and splashed the water on his new found friend.Zawadi's big ears stood alert like those of an antelope that had seen a lion .

He was so irritated ,he nagged to his new friend but Chaka couldn't stop laughing .He replayed the image of the dwarf waking up.He laughed so loudly as he packed their things.Zawadi was so unpleased that the rest of the time he said nothing to Chaka.

They continued with the journey ,following the marked trees.They went up the hills and down the valleys.The whole time they were both quiet.Zawadi was still angry,he planned his revenge.They came to a wide river.The path required them to cross this river .Their was no bridge nor a boat.They could not swim in the river it was definitely dangerous.They had to find a way across it.

"what do we do now,"asked zawadi shakingly.

"You thought you were coming on vacation ,ha .We definetly have to find a way across the bridge.I will find it as for you,stay and keep watch.Beware of pythons."On this note Chaka left,he ran looking for the way of how to cross the bridge.

After looking around for a while .He saw a writing on a tree.

"Zawadi,over here,i found something,"he said .

Zawadi came hurriedly.

"What ,is it?"he asked.

"Look on the tree ,what does it say,"Chaka asked.

"It says EAT OF ME AND YOU SHALL LIVE,"zawadi replied as he tried to understand.

"So what are we supposed to do with it zawadi."

"I guess we should eat its fruit."

He plucked two of the fruits and gave one to zawadi.They both ate suspiciously.

When they turned the solid light had formed.

They crossed the bridge and immediately their feet landed on the other side ,they came face to face with three poisonous serpents.The serpents slithered and circled them .Their tongues were out as they made hissing sounds.This sight made zawadi so scared he stood behind Chaka and held onto him tightly.He closed his eyes as if waiting for death.

He had never killed anything in his life leave alone a fly.

Chaka pushed him forward and he came face to face with one of the serpents.It hit him with its tail and he fell.He closed his eyes and mumbled a prayer as his whole body shook .The serpent slithered so fast through the rocks and just when it was about to bite zawadi ,T'challa released his arrow and it fell dead right on zawadi.The dwarf let out a big scream and pushed the heavy serpent from his body .He ran and hid inside the cave. Chaka had already killed the other two so he followed him to the cave.Little did he know there was still one behind him.It moved so fast between the rocks and coiled around his neck.He screamed so loud and asked zawadi to help him.Though in great panic,the dwarf steadied his bow and released the arrow that cut right through the head of the serpent.T'challa threw the monster down and gave a big sigh of relief.

Zawadi was so excited with his new achievement.He had never killed anything in his life.He followed closely but happily.

There path lead them through the cave.After what they had just experienced they were more cautious now than before.It was so dark inside the cave.

They took bonfires that they used as lights.On one side of the walls there were pictures with people knelling as if begging for mercy while some were being slaughtered.Above them was an image of a king wearing a crown sitted on a throne with a golden sceptor in his hand .All the people looked different and had different outfits.The other wall had a mermaid queen holding a golden sceptor ,below her were other mermaids being slaughtered by soldiers.

"Who do you think they are?"T'challa asked zawadi as he stopped and looked at the pictures closely.

"On this wall ,i think the people kneeling and being slaughtered represent all tribes of the world.

The king on the throne is Lord Behomoth.He shows no mercy.On the other wall is Queen leviathan mistreating all tribes of the sea ."

"You are so wise,but why do they have to be so cruel,"he asked as he bend down to see the writing below the images.

" It says THEY DESERVE NO MERCY,"he said as he also bend down to look closely.

They both gave a loud sigh ,looked at each other in shock and stood up.

They both just couldn't believe what they had seen.Generations after generations had suffered in the hands of this merciless gods.Someone had to free the human race before this power thirsty beasts wiped the whole race out.They walked through the cave which led them to deserted house.The map required them to climb so they used the chains.In the house they faced giant spiders.

At this point Zawadi had gathered a little courage and they deafeted the spiders with more ease which earned them Xp+ 150 coins .There stats had also increased.They continued on the path until they came to a desert.
