29 The Hidden Fortress Our journey started with a semi-tearful goodbye. I waved to Alex one last time through the rear windscreen of the BMW. We took off through the winding roads of Portofino, my heart sinking, wondering if we’d ever see each other again. Signs of the FM Virus were everywhere. Crashed cars. An overturned bus.
