Chapter Three

Lorenzo glared at him before letting out a chuckle. "I knew it! You are no better than the rest out there. I was wrong to have thought you would show some respect, you could have waited till you get your dumb ass out of my castle" "I'm cheap but at least I'm not as stupid as you are!" She cursed. His gaze darkened as he glared at her. "Did you just call me stupid?" he asked Jenny but his gaze never left Ladder. "Obviously! Or ain't you stupid? I will keep pushing you to the wall until you decide to end my life. I strongly believe that's the only way we can have peace. I mean the both of us" she blurted. He didn't utter a word to Ladder, only his eyes passed the message, he could obviously tell he just made a mess for them both. "Give her twenty strokes! That's for insulting your alpha" He blurted out wickedly. Jenny's heart skipped the moment he mentioned twenty but she remained calm, not like it was her first time or something. "Meet me in my chamber, don't keep me waiting" with that being said he stormed out of the dungeon. Ladder turned to face the poor girl, his eyes covered with guilt, he thought he was helping her but he only came to realize he only caused her more trouble. "I'm sorry Jenny, it's all my fault I shouldn't have hugged you" he muttered pleadingly. "It's not your fault so you don't have to blame yourself, I'm the sole cause of every damn thing that's going on in my life. I caused it to open itself. If I had done something to stop my dad from killing his mom back then, obviously all this wouldn't have happened, and possibly my mom would still be alive, same goes for my dad. We would have remained the happy family we used to be. But hell no that never happened, he was killed for killing his mom knowing fully well his mom was the cause of everything. She f*****g pushed my mom down the rails then claimed it was a mistake. She never for once felt bittered for what she did to my mom. His dumb son said nothing, he only acted when my dad ended his mother's life he never cared to know what prompted my dad to kill his mom, all he cared about was the fact that his mom was no more". "What about me? What about my mom? How can someone be so heartless? He killed my dad and then brought me here as his captive. I will make sure I avenge my parents. The moon goddess can do whatever she pleases with me afterward". She was already in tears before she rounded up her story. "It's okay, you can't possibly keep being weak, he isn't ready to let you go. If you wanna leave this place then you have to work hard for it. Don't depend on miracles to come cause they won't, even if they come it will only be too late for you. Come on pull yourself together and fight for your freedom" he muttered patting her shoulder. "No one should lay a hand on her! If he asks why, tell him I gave the order, place the blame on me. I will gladly face what comes afterwards." He walked out of the dungeon afterward. "He's right, I am the only one who can save myself, I can't continue like this, I must leave no matter what it might cost me". Ladder walked holding tightly to the door knob in the alpha’s chamber as he looked around for any sign of him, he wanted to leave but the twinkling of the light in the room made it dawn on him that he hasn't gone anywhere, he is in the room. But why is he making himself invisible? "You finally came after keeping me waiting for ages?" He asked behind him, making him turn in his direction, wasn't he supposed to be scared of him? Why's he suddenly feeling like this? He wondered. And what was the meaning of the act you just displayed back in the dungeon?" He questioned lighting a smoke. "I should be asking you that! What was the meaning of what you did earlier? How could you possibly send Cara to beat her up coupled with the ones the guards did to her, Lorenzo what's up with you? Why are you so mean?" Ladder asked, he tried severally to stop himself but something he wasn't aware of kept forcing him to speak further, the guts weren't his. "Ladder? You dare question my decisions? What guts! I will forgive you this once but!" He paused and began walking around him in circles. "Let it not be what I'm thinking, Ladder don't push me to the wall." "And what are you thinking?" Ladder questioned. "She's my mate, remember? you can't possibly have her so I suggest you kill whatever thing you have for her in that empty mind of yours cos I won't think twice before ending your damn life!" "That's not yours to decide, I never told you I have a thing for her, but if you continue treating her like trash then you will have me to contend with. Remember she only sees you as a threat, someone she must cut off, so what made you believe she's willing to be your mate?" "Ladder don't push me to the wall!" He warned. "Do whatever suits you dear alpha!" He snapped back before storming out. You might be wondering why he dared to challenge him. Ladder has been his friend since he was a kid though he knows nothing about his parents. The late alpha found them( he has a sister, the lady he was speaking with earlier) though they knew nothing about them, his dad took them as his own, in other words they are his siblings. So even if he wanted he wouldn't be able to do a thing. "Ladder! Don't make me do what I might regret, don't cross your boundaries" He muttered clenching his fist.
