DEMETRE
The scent of her arousal was driving me mad with jealousy and anger. I don't know what he was doing to her but he was definitely doing something. I tried to pay attention to the meeting as best I could but the low moan that escaped her lips that only I and I'm pretty sure he heard as well set me off. In the fraction of a second I was out of my chair and pushing Selene against the wall, she looked at me with wide eyes as all her lust turned into fear. Everyone else stood from their seats in alarm, "Is this how low you can stoop Selene, conjuring up disgusting thoughts about Malachai and yourself so I can smell your f*ucking arousal!" I yelled, "Don't you have any self respect?" I asked her, She clawed at my hands in an effort to loosen my grip on her neck. Tears streamed down her face as she turned away from me and faced him in a silent plea. It was only then that I noticed Alec and Domnatio restraining the vampire king and it looked like they would lose; his irises were a dark shade of crimson and black veins surrounded his eyes and his fangs were bared at me, this was the first time in all my life that I saw Malachai look so feral. Leticia and the other females went to help restrain Malachai but still they struggled to keep him in place. I had seen that look before, I had that look once but the rage I felt due to my unsolved feelings for this girl got the better of me and I left the room dragging her behind me.
"Let me go!" she protested but I kept walking navigating my way through the castle despite the red haze in my eyes. We reached out room and I threw her on the floor, "you think you can make a fool out of me in public like that, sure the others couldn't smell or hear you but I damn well could and so could he!" I walked to her slowly as though she was my prey and with her looking like a deer caught in headlights it made it all the more believable.
"You need to know your place female, and I will show it to you," Zephyr said taking all control of my body, I felt my fangs elongate and started panicking at the thought of what he was doing. I fought for control but lost to him so I had no choice but to watch from the sidelines. "What are you doing?" she asked as she backed up all the way until her back hit the bed.
SELENE
Everything happened so fast, Demetre grabbing me by the neck, dragging me to our room and now he was looking at me with animalistic eyes. Terror ran up my spine when my back hit the bed, blood pumped in my ears so hard I couldn't hear a word he was saying. Those wolf eyes stared at me and he smiled with malice showing me his fangs; before I could react he pulled my leg so that I was laying on my back. The thought of what might happen made my body numb, He got on top of me and as much as I tried to speak the words died in my throat. He pinned me by the shoulders and lowered his head into the crook of my neck and licked that spot; bile rose up violently as tears of shame started to fall and he hadn't even stripped me yet. I screamed in my mind, begging the king to come save me. This was not how it was supposed to be, this wasn't how I wanted to lose what was mine to give.
In the midst of my tears, fear and confusion he bit down on that very spot so hard I felt the skin break. Some how I found my voice and screamed in agony not just from the pain of the bite but from the feeling of acid burning me from the inside. I screamed so loud that my throat hurt and my voice cracked, then I went quiet.
Suddenly the weight was ripped off me; I stared at the ceiling as the unimaginable pain circulated through me but I remained quiet. I heard voices, many voices but they sounded so far away. My body felt so cold and I started to see black spots everywhere before finally giving into a peaceful escape from the hell I call my life but that dream was soon out of my grasp and the pain renewed ten fold. I felt my throat grow tight making me unable to let out any other sound apart from gasping for air. My body thrashed around violently as I felt what being dipped in acid was like.
MALACHAI
The moment he had his hand around her neck I lost all composure and reason, my vision bled red as the demon within me took control and I happily allowed it. He needed to pay for even thinking of touching what was mine like that. Yes, I admit it; Selene was my mate and I had known for a while now but could never do anything more than watch her from a distance and invade her thoughts because a certain someone's told me not to.
There was no hiding it now, I was out for blood and whatever suspicion Demetre had about what she was to me and I her went down to hell when he saw how the other royals were trying to stop me from ripping his throat out. It became even harder to hold me back when she looked at me, pleading for me to help her; I almost broke free when the others who were watching the scene before them unfold joined the struggle of stopping me from murdering the werewolf king.
He sped off with her and a feral sound came from my throat. Domnatio tried to calm me, but it was in vain. He and his wife were the only other two people who knew about Selene so they understood what was happening. I had to think clearly because there was not much we could do right now unless we wanted to go to war, he was right; she was his chosen before she was my mate. I started to simmer down and that's when I heard it, she screamed loud enough for all seven of us to hear and I bolted.
I don't think I had ever run so fast in my life before this moment, When I burst into the room I couldn't register what was happening only that he was on top of my woman and my vision stained red once more. I ripped him off her and started to bash his face in, there was no restraining me this time because the my shadows formed a barrier around me that allowed no one to cross. I kept on hitting but Demetre did not retaliate, "fight back dammit!" I yelled as I threw punch after punch while he lay there motionless. "You should pay attention to your mate Malachai because she will be dead in a matter of minutes," was all he said to me and smiled with those wolf eyes showing no regret.
I finally heard the screaming from the others when my shadow retreated, among the constant yelling for me to stop was the sound of someone choking. I looked at the spot where my mate was and the sight broke my heart into a million pieces, l left the son of a b***h and went to cradle her, she was in pain and through the barely formed mate bond I could feel only a fraction of what she was. Her eyes rolled back as she continued to convulse and that's when I saw the nasty bite mark on her neck. He bite her, that bastard bite my mate! She was going to die, no she couldn't. I had so much planned for us, she couldn't leave me now, not now, not ever. "Cassandra!!!" I called out in desperation to the most powerful witch this kingdom ever had and in an instant a portal opened and she stepped out. She kept a poker face even in these circumstances, "Cassie, please save her," I pleaded with tears pouring. It had been so long since I cried but now, nothing was stopping the dam from breaking. She nodded and started to chant but there was no change, "it's not working," she said her voice cracking. I couldn't even form a sentence, Selene stopped thrashing and started to breathe a little too slow, her heartbeat started to get weaker and all could do was hold her body against mine. Demetre killed my mate, this was war; I was going to reduce his domain to dust, consequences be damned.
"Hold on Malachai, do you hear that?" Leticia asked me, and I put my emotions away and focused on the heart beating at an even pace and her breathing. She was asleep. "I can't detect any venom in her, she's clean" Cassie told us all, it was supposed to be impossible for a human to resist a werewolf bite. "Astonishing," Marianna whispered, I stood up and walked out of that room with my little mate in my arms and made a beeline for my own. When I entered my room the first thing I did was place her on my bed, where she belonged. Her breathing was still even and her heart was beating the normal way a human's would if they slept. Thank God she was alive because if Demetre had gotten the outcome he desired I would have been preparing for war but the more important thing here was how she managed to survive a werewolf bite and from the king himself. "It'll take way more than that to take her down," someone said behind me, I turned my head to the man in my room. Firstly I had never before seen him and second I didn't hear him come in. The man had brown hair and pale blue almost grey eyes, he had a small smile on his face as he stared at Selene's sleeping form, "who are you?" I asked him, this was someone to be wary of because I could practically feel the power rolling off him in waves but he continued to stare at her, "it's about time you showed up," said to her making me even more confused. "Don't worry about who I am Malachai, not now at least," he disappeared into thin air after he uttered those words leaving me even more confused at who and what Selene really was.
CASSANDRA
I was still stunned, I wanted to tell my sisters but I couldn't not now. If this information fell into the wrong hands then her she would be in danger that even I could not estimate. "Well haven't you been busy?" his voice said to me, up till now I only heard him in my head giving me instructions but seeing him after so long was different altogether, without thinking I wrapped my arms around him and cried my heart out. It had been so lonely without them, I had my sisters yes but it was not the same. Just the feel of him made me cry even more, his hand soothed my hair while the other rubbed circles on my back. "Shhh," he cooed, "I'm so sorry Cassie, so sorry but-" I cut him off, "I know, an I understand all that matters you're here right now even if it's for a little while I'm thankful," we stayed like that for god knows how long.
SELENE
"I don't want to go back there," I told him, Over the time I've been asleep I've gotten rather close to this stranger who would not tell me his name. He kept me company after explaining what had happened, I could stay here forever cause it was way better than what I called my reality but he wasn't having it. "Selene, You have to," he pressed and cupped my cheek, "When you wake up you won't remember me okay it's for your own good."
When I came to my senses the first thing I was hit with was the smell of orange blossoms and damp earth, it was everywhere. The room was quiet except for the soft breathing coming from the person who's head was on my bed. The scent was more potent from him and it surprised me how I never smelled it before now. I ran my fingers through his thick locks and earned a purr from the sleeping king which made me giggle, "Don't stop mi solía," he said half asleep. I waited for him to notice what was actually happening and in the next few seconds he shot upright and looked at me in wonder, "you're awake," he said and called for Cassandra. She gave me a check up and told him everything was fine, "are you sure, she's been out cold for the last week,"
I froze, a week? I've been asleep for a week! "Malachai she's fine, it's like nothing happened," Cassandra looked at me in a weird way before leaving which should have unsettled me but did not. He filled me in on what had happened in the passed week and told me that he had kicked Demetre off his land and did not care about the repercussions and he told me about who he was to me and that he met me a while ago but was supposed to keep his distance because of.... complications.
For the rest of the day Malachai and I got to know each other but he had to leave for a meeting. After showering and picking out one of his shirts I decided to explore the castle a little bit.
If only I had known, I would've sat my a** down.
I had wondered down one of the many corridors when something caught my eye and like the fool I am I followed it. As I got closer the slit seemed to get bigger to the point of almost glowing, I reached out to touch it when a large hand covered my mouth. Immediately I began to panic and thrash around but my captor was far too strong for me to handle. He held my body close to his and walked through the glowing slit.
I was thrown on to the ground so hard that I bruised my palms and knees when I landed on them; I didn't even have the time to looked up when a single kick knocked all the wind out of me making me fall over. I finally got to see where I was from the dirty and damp floor. My hair was pulled back roughly in order to face the person in front of me. My heart leapt to my throat as I stared back into those familiar eyes.
"welcome home, slut."
