It's already after school and the hallway filled with dozens of students filling and emptying their lockers preparing to go home. I had just put some books in my locker too when I was almost knocked to the cold surface.
"Watch where you're going human!" She hissed like a snake that have been just stomped on the tail.
"What's your problem Annabelle?" I furrowed my brows fixing my bag over my shoulder.
"My problem is you pathetic human! We shouldn't be having humans roaming around like this it's against pack policy," she jeered, her stance firm in front of me. I was not intimidated by her though and it was burning her inside out.
"Look Annabelle I admire your jealousy. I mean I'm your worst nightmare. The only difference is that you have a wolf and I don't. And when I get my wolf, you will be squirming like the little pathetic loser that you're," I said and I never thought a face could turn into those shades of purple.
"Look here you..." I cut her off before even giving her a chance to finish her sentence.
"And don't forget I'm the next in line Alpha of this pack. If I were you I'd count my words. You're such a cute little girl 'don't take it is a compliment' and I don't think the life of a rogue will be such a good look on you," I winked before willingly brushing past her. I could hear her squeals as I make my steps on the hallway.
"I see you've taken messing with Annabelle as a part of your hobbies?" Brandon came crushing into me out of the blue.
"She deserves it. All my life she's made me feel worthless and insecure. I was her doll to mess with whenever she wanted. It really took me a long
time to realize how much power I hold against her," I responded.
" Anyways enough about Annabelle. So are you coming to the party tonight?" He asked.
" No Brandon, I have a test next week. I'll have to prepare," I declined his offer as we made our way out of the school Hall.
"You're always working so hard! Don't you ever think about relaxing?" He asked throwing his hands recklessly.
"I don't have time to relax Brandon! I will become an Alpha soon enough. I don't want to be known as the uneducated Alpha who wouldn't even be able to save a simple math problem to save the pack."
" Why would you need to solve a math problem to save a pack?" He frowns with confusion.
" Because Brandon, my father runs a lot of successful businesses. I'm expected to take over when he retires. So if I'm stupid how will I manage a business? And if I can't manage the businesses means you're all financially doomed. You will go crazy of starvation until you start eating each other like savage rogues."
" Jeez okay I get it, you're not coming to the party. No need to depress me with savage facts," he rolls his eyes as we make our way to the main road.
" It's like my father always say 'Kamila! A pack is not just about punching attackers in the face and snapping their heads off. You have to help the pack survive in anyway possible, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially," I mimicked my father's voice and he doubles over with laughter.
"I feel sorry for the guy who will have you for a mate," he could barely stop laughing.
" As if having you as a mate is any better," I rolled my eyes.
" Well I'll be blessed to find my mate. I believe she's a Queen looking for her destined lover. She will crush into my arms and pick me up bridal style, take me and parade me to her beautiful kingdom," he says as if he could see it now happening. Dreamily staring at the blue reflection.
"Bridal what? What kind of messed up imagination do you have?" Now it was my turn to laugh it his unusual fantasies.
"Well I don't expect you to understand. The only kind of chemistry you understand is when you realize mixing blue and red makes green."
" It's actually violet Brandon," I corrected. I could never understand why such easy things could be so hard for others.
He rolled his eyes," see!"
It was true me and Brandon had not found our mates. We were supposed to find them on our 16th birthdays but we still haven't. It was normal that a werewolf should find their mate on their 16th birthday but me and Brandon we even passed our 17th birthdays wonder no Mate. We could only wonder what they would be like. Only play fantasies of what would be a best mate.
Everyone really thought me and Brandon would become mates the way we're so close. At some point we too started thinking that way. But it was clear that we were not.
Also not even having a wolf at my age. I was supposed to find my wolf at my 16th birthday but I didn't. The daughter of an Alpha not having a wolf? That's a disgrace. I know people speak shame about me but never say it out loud because they are scared of my father.
My father is a feared man amongst the werewolf kingdom. No one has conquered him and they've all given up to try. He had a gift which I believe not any other wolf had. The power of teleportation. I mean the man could be anywhere at any given time. He could be in a different location in just a matter of seconds. He was hard to defeat, and they have failed miserably trying to kill him. I too wish I have the same power as him.
He always comforted me about my wolf. He says too he was a late bloomer and look where it got him? The best werewolf that ever lived. He says if it's late it's usually because the moon Goddess is preparing something far great than we think.
I believe and trust him. My father has never let me down before. He's been there even after my mother died. Unfortunate enough my mother died on a rogue attack before my father could save him. That's the same day he discovered his amazing power but it was too late to save my mother then.
I sometimes wish I still had my mother by my side but I can't say my dad hasn't been the best in the world.
