I had already decided to divorce Jack, yet now there was another connection between us that I couldn't ignore. "Amelia, this child... she could actually replace Layla and stay with you," Aidan said. 'Replace? Hmph, nothing that can be replaced was ever truly important,' I thought to myself. "Nothing can replace my Layla. She's irreplaceable," I replied. Aidan fell silent. Eventually, a phone call summoned him away. Before he left, he told me to stay at the hospital, and that he'd come back to pick me up in the afternoon. I left after he was gone. I hated hospitals. Just as I stepped outside, I spotted a familiar figure around the corner—Harper. She was standing in front of the obstetrics and gynecology department, gently caressing her belly, her eyes soft with tenderness.
