[Lyra’s POV] I woke up expecting the familiar, biting cold of the damp earth and the sharp ache in my spine from sleeping on rocks. Instead, I was completely engulfed in a cloud of warmth. I opened my eyes slowly, my amber irises adjusting to the bright morning sunlight streaming through massive, floor-to-ceiling glass windows. I was lying in a bed the size of a small cabin, wrapped in sheets made of silk so fine it felt like water against my skin.
