“Boss, we found her!” my capo, Giovanni, comes into my office in a hurry. He closes the door and sits in front of my desk.
“Gio, where is she?” I ask calmly.
“Oregon. We got a hit on her cousin’s cell phone. We tracked the call to some place called Lincoln City in Oregon by the ocean. And boss, she had twin baby boys. We tapped into the hospital records. I believe the babies are yours. Time of conception would match the date you told me about and the pediatrician’s records indicate matching your blood type O positive as Cassandra’s is B positive. And they both have your eye color. ”
“She is pregnant and fled. I must bring her back. If anyone finds out about the babies. My enemies will put out a hit on her and the babies. Gio, send my sister. Cassandra and Juliana were closer that she was with her own sister.” I am so stupid for listening to my father. I loved my wife from the moment I laid eyes on her.
“Yes, boss.”
“Giovanni, speak to no one else on this matter.” I will have to pay the devil himself to bring my wife and children back. Children. How did my wife do this all on her own? Alone. Pregnant. She gave birth to my sons. Sons. I have two sons.
Gio, clears his throat. He nodded and quickly left the room. He knows what I am thinking. Gio is my best friend and truly someone I trust completely. We have been together since we were five years old. His father was my father’s capo.
I never told Cassandra that was really was in love with her, but my father was pushing me for an heir. I did things I was ashamed of. I slept with Dahlia. I had to drink a lot to get drunk enough to sleep with Dahlia. Dahlia is a cheap w***e. She also made advances to Gio who quickly refused her and immediately told me.
I never showed my emotions but when I found the pregnancy test in the trash and my wife’s wedding rings, I lost my s**t. I knew she was pregnant with my babies. My wife, my baby.
I should have just told my father that I would wait for Cassandra. The first date we made I was infatuated with her. I had to control my emotions. I was being groomed to take over as godfather to the Fusco crime family. I am supposed to be as ruthless as my father.
I admired Cassandra’s strength. I knew that she was a computer wizard but had no idea that she was a hacker. She has made millions by herself since she was sixteen. My cousin, Gerardo, is also a hacker and went up against my Cassandra. She took down his system and he was enraged. We found out by a mere coincidence that it was Cassandra when Dahlia blurted out, “It was probably my sister. She is the most sought out hacker in the US.”
“What in the f*****g hell are you talking about?” I yelled from my office. Dahlia was constantly eaves dropping. I was tired of her. After I found the pregnancy test, I threw Dahlia out of my house and told her to never return. I warned her father to keep her away from me and Cassandra.
I told my father because I was an i***t and listened to him, my wife took my babies away. I told him to stay out of my business. It took use almost two months just to locate Cassandra. Only because we accidently found her cousin, Silvia, just happens to have a computer repair business. We tapped her phones and nothing. Then we checked her mobile and found regular calls after hours to Oregon.
Gerardo tapped into the line and listened to conversations and found that Cassandra’s voice was a match from a call to her father’s. Silvia would ask about the babies. I found out Domenico and Danilo, my sons were healthy and doing wonderful. Of course, Cassandra would make a wonderful mother.
She was not a gold-digger like her sister. Cassandra never complained or asked for anything. She did not take one thing that I bought for her during our marriage. Everything was still in her room. But she was not there. I could no longer smell her scent. The room was cold.
Cassandra was my ray of light. I wonder how she is doing. Did she keep my baby? Boy or girl? Did she have a hard pregnancy? All I know is that I was not there for her. How did she survive without me? Really Santino? I thought to myself. She is a hacker. She has contracts. She works from home. Why would she not survive?
My wife, my true love. I really did fall in love with Cassandra. I told my sister, Juliana, I fell in love with Cassandra. My sister told me to make a stand against my father’s wishes and look for Cassandra. My father had retired the same night Cassandra left me. I kept that silent until Dahlia blabbed to her father. In turn he called my father.
I made it clear that I would bring my wife back. My raggio di sole (ray of sunshine). My Tesoro. I dreamt of her in a sun dress showing her baby bump and sitting in our garden, out back. I still see my bride walking toward me in the church we were married in. I wanted to take her home and make love to her as she deserved but my father had to make sure I had an heir.
Cassandra’s gown was white and delicate. Not like my wife. I found out that she had trained in mixed martial arts and is a freaking computer hacker. To say that ‘looks are deceiving’ is a mild statement. My dumbass thought, she was just a delicate housewife. Her father told me that Cassandra took tennis in college and general studies. He never mentioned her true studies. Why would he not? ‘Stronzo’ I called myself.
I am sitting in my office with Giovanni, my capo. He is on the phone with his brother, who is our bounty guy. I made it clear that they are not to approach Cassandra. She may bolt, if she knows that she is being tracked down.
“Boss, congrats. You have twin baby boys. Gerardo tapped into the pediatricians’ records. Two healthy baby boys. Domenico and Danilo Giordano. She’s using a different name. Their next doctor visit is tomorrow at ten. I have the jet ready. I’ll find out who’s Giordano in relation to your wife.” He stammered. He handed me a recent picture of my beautiful wife and baby boys sitting at a café talking with a woman there.
She is still stunning in my eyes. My angel has her hair up in a messy bun. She’s wearing jeans and a t-shirt. She still looks as beautiful as ever. Track shoes, probably to keep up with crawling babies. My boys. I want them home so badly it hurts my heart.
She is wearing glasses with a blue tint. Probably because of the computer work she does. The woman she is talking to handed her and envelope. Probably a cash payment for the work my wife does. I should have seen it sooner. I could have set up my wife in her office to help with our on-line casino and other gambling set-ups.
“Thank you, Gio. Let’s just hope she agrees. I may have a hell of a fight on my hands. My wife has resources and uses them well.” I am very proud of my wife. She is no delicate flower. She is resourceful and accomplished. Who would not want a wife like that?
I dip my hand into my pocket and touch my wife’s wedding ring. I have not put it down since that night. The night she walked out. She ran away from me. Not that I blame her. I treated her like crap ever since her sister moved in with us. I knew Cassandra would run. I just did not think she would leave knowing she was pregnant. I know she is resourceful and very smart. Her father did not pay attention.
No one knew a damn thing. It was like she disappeared. Only the things I bought her were in her room. Her rings were on the dresser. If I had not ran into the bathroom to check with window in case, she crawled through there I would not have seen the pregnancy test in the trash.
Gio checked the security footage, my wife simply walked through the front door and out onto the street. She walked up the street and hailed a taxi. Then she was gone. The one woman that held my heart.
I never told her I loved her. I never told her my true feelings. Well, I will fix that when I bring her home. I will show her everything.
My amore, I am coming for you.
