Chapter 8 - Santino

I made love to my wife. Finally, I felt so relaxed. I could not get enough of her. My wife. My true love. I could not help but think back to when I treated her like crap. I flaunted her sister in front of her while I was drunk. I remember parts here and there. I had to get drunk to be with such a vile woman. Dahlia, nothing like the flower that captures people’s hearts, my Cassandra. Dahlia… This one, tears everything apart. “I will make everything up to you, my love.” I kiss her forehead while she is still sleeping. I hear giggles coming toward the room. I get up and put some sweatpants on. I open the door to two smiling faces with bright eyes. “Dah-dah” the boys both murmured and pushed past me, rushing to their mother. “Mahmah. Mahmah.” They gently tap her hand. “Boys, are you hungry?” I whispered to them. They both turned and mumbled as they charged part me heading to the kitchen. I followed them. Cassandra had used the breast pump and the freezer was stocked. I put the bags in the warmer and put my boys in their highchairs. I prepared the baby cereal as their momma instructed. They eagerly huffed down their food, and we tried sippy cups for the first time. My baby boys and I were confused on the sippy cups but they both figured out how to drink from them. I cleaned up both boys, and they ran back into their room. I washed up the highchairs and sippy cups washed and put them in the dish holder. I walked into my sons’ room and changed them and attempted to dress them. Both were giggling and running around the room. I was having a hell of a time trying to dress them. I would get shorts on one and the other would peel his clothes off and run around the room in his diaper butt-ass naked and laughing. I am pretty sure they are both laughing at me. Hell I would too. This was more challenging than dealing with our mafia capo meetings. I am thinking to the powers above that these two will change our organization from the top down. I almost gave up when I heard an angel behind me. “Boys, listen to your dah-dah and put your clothes on, or we are not going to the park.” My mouth was hanging open when both boys replied, “OK, momma. We go park.” They both stopped and grabbed their clothes, walking over to me and handing me their clothes. My beautiful wife stood there in her T-shirt and panties. I was instantly hard. She smirked at me as she walked over to the chair and sat down to watch me dress our sons. “They love walking to the small park in town when we go to the market. The little park is right next to the market. Ray is the owner of the market. His wife was taken the same night Henry’s wife was taken. We lost leads on them two weeks after they were taken. It was like they just disappeared. Silvia is still receiving reports of sightings. But they lead nowhere,” Cassandra whispered. “How long have you been doing this? Searching for people?” I asked as I put the boys' shoes on their feet. “Since my second year of college. I was studying abroad, and my roommate went missing. I found out she was drugged at a party and almost trafficked out of the country. I went back to my room and hacked the city cameras and located the bar she was at. I watched as a guy lead her to his car, ran the plates. Found out he was the senators son. Money people have no shame. This stupid guy owed one hundred thousand in a gambling debt and decided to sell my roommate to pay off his debt.” “Jesus! How the hell did you get her back?” Cassandra took a deep breath, “I ran his plates. I placed a call to my cousin, Silvia. She and her husband are trackers and hackers. They conveniently added him to the most wanted list, put in a fake dossier and added him to the Interpol website with some assistance overseas.” “Damn, you amaze me.” Cassandra smiled, “We were lucky to get my roommate, Mary, back unharmed. Other than bruising, she was still…untouched. Her father was grateful and donated to our cause.” We got the boys into my SUV, and we drove into town. Cassandra explained to me that they are part of an organization that goes after traffickers and searches for missing women. Especially women that are missing from reservations. She said it was almost as if no one cared. No national reports, no reporters, no cameras. Nothing. So, Cassandra and Silvia are the main hackers. Damion is Silvia’s husband, who is an ex-military officer. He handles the protection. They are still starting out and are researching active candidates for additional assistance. I offered more funding. Cassandra smiled, “Are you serious? I can have Damion contact you.” “I hope you mean, contact us. I have already set up the top floor of our home for you. Added more security and computer systems. Anything you need, you got.” I kissed her knuckles as I held her hand. She blushed and lowered her head. “I would love to come home and work from there. There is still so much I need to finish.” “Well, we will finish whatever that is of the utmost importance and take everything else home. Gerardo wants to join as well. I do need to tell you that he was outraged when you took him down systematically. I think you hurt his feelings. Giovanni had to take him to get a new bottle of wine to calm him down,” I said proudly of the woman standing before me. “Well, he jacked up my terminal and caused a delay in taking down a very pompous member of council in Florida. I was in the middle of relocating his money and he attempted to dump his wife for some floozy in his office.” I laughed and wrapped my arms around my wife’s shoulders and kissed her neck, making her body shudder. “No worries, my love. I thought his ego needed a good kick or two!” “Okay, you watch the boys at the park, and I’ll grab some meat from the market for tonight’s dinner.” “Here is my card and some cash, just in case.” I handed her my wallet as I walked with the boys’ hand-in-hand. I was halfway to the park when I heard a yell, “Señora Fusco, drop!” My heart almost stopped as I grabbed my baby boys and hovered over them as cover. I heard two pings and screaming. I looked up to see Giovanni running from an SUV and Henry slamming on his brakes and jumping from his jeep. All the chaos was slamming into me. Cassandra! My wife. Where is she? Henry scrambled toward me and grabbed my sons. “Cassandra! Grab her and put her in your SUV, follow me. She has been shot. My men have a sniper in custody.” It felt like my ears were plugged. Everything was moving in slow motion. Giovanni had Cassandra in his arms carrying her to the SUV. “Santino…MOVE! NOW!” Someone will pay dearly for this.
