Chapter 31 - Santino

“I have something else to tell you.” Cassandra smiled in her kiss. My heart was racing. What now. I missed the opportunity to capture Dahlia. I am not sure if she would survive my wrath. “I will be ordering more furniture for the nursery. Your boys will be sleeping in twin-sized beds with rails. The nursery will now have pink added to the décor.” Cassandra kissed my lips ago. My brain was stuck in neutral. Cassandra smiled as her eyes sparkled. A girl. A baby girl. Just as Gerardo said, ‘a little princess’. “A baby girl? That is wonderful, my love.” “Not quite.” She kissed me again. “What is it, my love?” “How about girls?” She licked my ear then. Damn, I was hard. I need her in our bedroom now. My brain was only processing part of our conversation. Then, my beautiful, wonderful wife smiled again. “Girls? As in more than one, correct?” I whispered a kiss to her lips. “Yes, amore mio. We are having twins again. Girls. I just got the confirmation from my doctor. She laughed when I called her to confirm.” I blinked twice. I lifted my wife into the air and spun her around, “We are having twin girls! I am so, so happy my love.” I lowered her quickly, “I am sorry, I should not have spun you like that. Are you okay? How are you feeling? What do I do?” I was suddenly in a brain freeze. I had no idea what to do. She did it all by herself without me. I need to make amends for the time I missed. “Amore mio, listen. You do not have to do anything. Well, maybe a night foot rub. My feet were killing my month number nine. Your boys kicked my ass! Oh my gosh, and my cravings were bad. Banana split pie. I would have killed people if it were not for a clerk in the nearby bakery in Oregon where I lived briefly.” “I will hire a pastry chef. Whatever you want or need. It will be done. Later, I would like to talk about your time away from me and what you did. I know it was hard for you. I will make it up to you.” My phone buzzed. Giovanni. “You are supposed to be on a honeymoon.” “Boss, Dahlia. Is in my line of sight. She has been close by the entire time.” “Where. Is. She?” “Five houses down, east. We were on our way back to the house to see everyone. I got a flat tire and when I got out to get the spare, I spotted her exiting her in the garage as the door was closing. I thought the Ferro’s were on vacation in Europe. I called John Ferro, he said they are still there. I advised him that I would check his security and make sure the house was locked. He gave me the okay to do what was necessary. He knows what has been happening.” “I’m on my way!” “No. I have a team that will surround the house. We need to set up surveillance. She may be watching us as we speak. She is a sneaky b***h,” Giovanni muttered as his voice seemed to go off in the distance. This is where Julianna must have taken the phone from him. “Brother of mine. I love you, please listen to your second. I cannot lose any more family. I spoke to father earlier, and he told me to tell you to do what you needed to do. But to protect your family first. Revenge is second,” Julianna said quietly. She was right. I need to protect my family first. I still needed to see my father and resolve our issues. I know he was used. He is much older now and I truly believe that he is regretting his decisions. Julianna had mentioned before that he seemed feeble and sat in his home office just staring into space. He sat in my mother’s garden for hours talking to himself. My heart broke for my father. He was a different man when my mother passed away. It was so hard for him to be happy. He only spoke of business, never spoke to us as a father. I wanted to make amends with my father and introduce his grandsons to him, but the timing of this Dahlia mess is interfering. A strange thing that just occurred to me was that we had not heard one word from Cassandra’s father. He was the one that fed the bullshit to my father for Dahlia to move in with us just after our marriage. I could not stand Dahlia, and she has proven exactly why. She is toxic. Just thinking of having to have s*x with her made my skin crawl. I had to get drunk just to be in the same bed as her. I do not think that I was able to perform. I could not even get hard. Not like with my wife. Just one look and I am hard as steel. My Cassandra. She has proven her father a fool. To judge your child the way he did to her, was incomprehensible. To be embarred by her intelligence. He should have been proud and protective. Now, she is mine, and I will protect her with everything inside of me. My entire family, the men that work for me, all of our alliances have so much respect for Cassandra. They all seen the pain that was in her eyes during our conference video call. They know her strength and worth. They all vowed to protect her at my last alliance meeting in California. My phone buzzed with a message from Giovanni. Everyone is in place. Gerardo had tapped into her surveillance. I was right. She has been watching us from the outside. Gerardo has scrambled her system. She put in a call to someone to repair it. We will get her my friend. Gio I replied: Good. Make sure she does not escape. “Excuse me, Don Fusco. May I be of some service? She had no idea about my wife being saved. Dahlia has sent me a message asking if I had your wife in the basement of the warehouse where I was to secure her. I could send her a message, if your men would be kind enough to get there before me. There is an empty warehouse next door where you men could hide their vehicles.” Jerry stood, looking at the floor. I smiled. I like this guy already. “First and foremost, thank you for what you did. I will return the favor. You will be there to assist my men. Sort of payback, if you will. Dahlia has made everyone’s life hell. Now, Giovanni, my second in command, will be here a few minutes. We will go over a new plan.”
