Chapter 24- Santino

1230 Words
I lived up to my promise to my wife. I had her in the shower. Twice. In the closest. In our bed, several times. I thoroughly f****d my wife to the point that she passed out. She was lightly snoring. I knew she would be sore in the morning. I smiled at my handy work. I kissed her temple and dressed to go to my office downstairs. Gerardo was waiting for me. He had lipstick on the side of his mouth. I chuckled as I gestured my hand to the side of my mouth and handed him a tissue. “My God! That woman! I thought she was going to attack me right then and there in front of everyone. Santino, you know I have never dated. But I am attracted to Sarah. What do I do? I have never been with a woman.” That last part, he whispered. I felt for my friend. “Gerardo, just be honest with her. She understands. She has been used before, from what my wife has explained to me. Sarah is a good woman. Don’t be afraid to show your feelings. Let her know how you feel. If you want to take it slow. Then tell her. I don’t believe this woman will shy away from you. Trust your instinct, my friend.” “Thank you, Santino. You have always been like a brother to me. My Dona, treats me like a brother too.” “My wife loves you like a brother she never had. You know about the relationship she has with her sister. She values you, Giovanni, Julianna and everyone in this house. So, tell me, Sofia disappeared without notice. Did you track her phone?” “Sure, did. She has not moved from her apartment in the city. After Señora Fusco released her from duty on the day Dona came home from the hospital, we have not heard from her. It is unusual, as Sofia always checks in the night before she is to report for her security detail.” “Send someone over to her apartment.” “Already done, I am waiting to hear from Carlo. Anything else? “No, Gerardo. Let me know when Carlo reports.” “Will do. Boss, congrats again on the new addition to your family. I look forward to maybe a little princess running around with the little princes of the house.” He chuckled as he left my office. About an hour later, Gerardo rushed into my office. “Boss, Sofia was shot. Carlo took her to Doc. She was weak due to blood loss. But Doc says she will recover. There was a message on Sofia’s gun.” He handed me a piece of paper: ‘Your little wife will pay the price for what she owes. I will come for what is owed to me.’ There was a heart with an arrow through it. I have seen this mark before. What the hell did that mean? Cassandra has never done anything to anyone. She has only helped people. Was this someone from Gustaf or Piotre’s? Was this someone completely new or old? Maybe someone we already know? “Good morning, I have a request to ask if you would be able to assist me with something. A mark. Someone is sending my wife a message. I need to know who it is,” I spoke quietly into my phone. “Send it.” The voice on the other end of the phone. I heard typing and voices on the other end of the line. “Well, it looks like someone from your wife’s past. She was the key player in the takedown of her empire. Matilda Carr, she was selling babies on the black market. Your wife got all the evidence against Matilda and took down her entire empire. Your wife was able to reroute Matilda’s money to the Children’s Hospitals and the Orphanages in New York. Matilda is currently a resident at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. Tell me what happened.” I went of the information that Gerardo had given me and Sofia’s update. “It sounds like Matilda may have someone inside working with others on the outside. She was able to get to your wife’s guard within days. You may have a mole in your house. I suggest ‘pest control’. I have someone that would fit in without an issue, and she also knows your wife.” “Send her. I am not f*****g around with my wife’s safety.” “I just sent her a message. She will contact you when she lands. Oh, and by the way, congratulations on the baby addition.” “Thank you. And to you as well, daddy. You are in for a whole new, wonderful world. Let me know when I can be of service to you.” We ended the call. Damion is very fast and very good at what he does. I have a lot of respect for the man. He would burn down the world for his wife as I would for mine. “Gerardo, I need a full-scale background check on new employees here and at my father’s house. We may have a mole,” I whispered to him as his eyes widened. “On it, Boss.” He nodded and left the room. I waited until Cassandra was up and showered. I needed her to eat and stay healthy. I was in my office when Cassandra walked in and sat on my lap. I wrapped my arms around her waist and inhaled her scent. “Tell me. What is wrong? And do not sugar-coat it.” She murmured into my neck. Just her hugging me, made me relax. I told her the Sofia situation. My phone call with Damion. Damion’s reply to the mark. I showed Cassandra what Gerardo had found. “This b***h again.” Cassandra exhaled and stood up from my lap. I did not want to let her go. I wanted to hold her and keep her near, but I knew my wife. She will go full force on the dark net and do what she does best. “Damion is sending someone to assist you. He said you will know her. We may have a mole in the house. Gerardo has already swept this room and your bedroom. He will check the entire property and the cars. I need you to stay close, please. For me. If anything happens, I will…” Cassandra kissed me hard and wrapped her arms around my waist. She kissed me fiercely, “No one will take or touch what is mine.” She growled. Damn, a fired-up Cassandra was hot. I was in awe of my friend. Nothing frightened her. She was ballsy, fierce, strong, beautiful. And MINE! Our toddlers walked into the room with a purpose. They walked over to us and wrapped their little hands around our legs and leaned into our bodies looking up into our faces. “Hey, hey, my loves. What is the matter? Are you okay?” Cassandra squatted in front of them. Checking their little bodies. “No zia? Momma, where zia Julianna?” Domenico asked. Cassandra looked at me questioningly. I grabbed my phone and called Giovanni. He answered on the first ring, “What’s up?” “Where is my sister?”
