Chapter 13 -Cassandra

I fell asleep in Santino’s arms. I woke up with a blanket over me. My babies were nowhere in the room. I started to panic. I jumped up and ran to the door and opened it in a rush and stumbled out of the doorway. Only to run into my husband’s hard, broad chest. “Whoa, woman. The house is not in fire. I was just coming to get you. The boys are with Julianna at the dinner table. They asked for momma, so I came to see if you were awake.” “Yes, I was ready to act ‘momma-bear looking for her cubs’. You are lucky I love your handsome face. Is there food there? I am starving.” I gasped out and Santino lightly slapped my ass. Which I did not mind. He was so cute and loving. I stopped in the hallway and turned to face him. He stopped with a confused look on his face. I slowly reached for him and wrapped my arms around his shoulders. I softly kissed his lips. A loving kiss. He wrapped his arms around my body and pulled my closer to his. He kissed me fervently. He stopped and leaned his forehead to mine. “I love you so, so much mi Tesoro. Now let’s go feed our family.” “I like the sound of that.” With that we entered the dining room to see our boys sitting in highchairs and Julianna between them. She was talking animatedly about the zoo and learning to swim. I smiled at her. Then, I noticed Giovanni watching her lovingly from across the table. Oooh, nice I see a love story there. Santino cleared his throat, “My queen is awake and hungry. I hope you like it. I went ahead and had the chef make pasta a simple spaghetti for the boys which they are already enjoying. And for us caprese salad, Cacio e pepe, Osso Buco, sauteed spinach and your favorite panna cotta.” “Oh my, if you wanted to get laid you should have started with that when we got here.” Which led to chuckles around the table. “Oh, you guys. No nasty talk around my nephews or me for that matter. We are enjoying ‘sketti.’ Right Danny and Donny.” Julianna smirked. “Oh, you gave my babies nicknames?” I murmured. Julianna shrugged and giggled. She looked at her nephews with such adoring love, I was almost jealous. Santino picked up my hand and kissed my knuckles. If he only knew the damage, I have done with my hands. We have been able to infiltrate other systems and leave without any trace. We have been able to save many people, but my heart always goes back to the people that we were not able to save. Some died, some just disappeared with no trace. I know there has to be a way to find them. Ray’s wife, Margarita was taken the same night Henry’s wife, Jenny was taken. The were both in the main town of Browning shopping for school supplies. Margarita has gone missing from the restaurant that they stopped at to eat. Jenny had called Henry from her phone while she sat in the car waiting. Henry had rushed to Browning only to find his wife’s car. Her cell phone was on the floor near the gas pedal. The driver’s door was pen. Jenny’s purse was sitting just under the driver’s seat. Everything was still in it. Henry had scoured the scene with the Browning police, and they found Margarita’s phone and purse in the restaurant lady’s room. No valuables were taken. Both just disappeared. No witnesses. How convenient. There was limited technology, no cameras set up at intersections yet. Then it hit me. ATM across the street from the scene. I jumped up from the table” “I’ll be right back. I have to check something.” I raced back to my room and fired up my laptop. I sent a message to Henry to send me pictures of Jenny and Margarita. He quickly replied with picture of both women standing next to each other at a school function. I sent him a message I was checking on a few things and would let him know later today. I quickly traced the ATM machine from the bank across the street from the restaurant that the women were last seen. I had to trace back two years ago. Which is also just before Crystal was taken. Gerardo walked into the room with his laptop in hand, “May I assist you, Dona?” He smirked. “Oh boy! You bet your sweet gigabit. I could really use your speed my cuz! I am accessing the ATM records across the street from a diner in Browning on the day that Henry’s wife and another woman wen missing. I have a hunch about the airstrip nearby. Can you check for private airplanes for this day.” I hand him a copy of the police report I got from Henry. “It has hardly anything in it. Like I was shocked that there were no witnesses. Nada-damn thing!” “Dona, with Native American’s in the play, it is unfortunate and sad to say that police here just do not care. Or it may be a fact that they were paid off. The Missing and Murdered Indigenous People report has pages and pages of victims and their families. There were advocacy groups pushing to for policy changes and raise awareness for years. It has only improved a fingertip.” Gerardo whispered as his fingers were gliding over the keyboard. “Not anymore, my dear. You are no enlisted on my team to help with these cases. I was assigned over one hundred cases on the past year, and I need help. I need your wicked fingers.” I smiled. “Whose wicked fingers are you needing?” Santino walked into the room with a frown on his gorgeous face. “I need you cousin and his mad skills. I just recruited him to join my team. I am going to find Henry’s and Ray’s wives and bring them home.” “I see” Santino kissed my temple, as my fingers were running over the keyboard. I am lucky enough to type one hundred and ninety keystrokes per minute. My mind is running like crazy. Why didn’t the police check these records. I found the time where Jenny ran from the restaurant to her car. She was making a phone call, probably the one to Henry. I seen were a SUV approached and parked on her passenger side, blocking the view from whomever took Jenny. The next clip was the SUV backing up and speeding off. I backed up the footage and was able to see where the SUV was parked at the end of the block and the passenger window was done halfway. I could see men in the front. Oh God! I pulled the police record and pulled up the file. The police officer that took Henry’s report is the same man that was driving the SUV. “Son of a b***h! Bingo. I have scumbag number one. Police officer, Marvin Lloyd. Five years on the force. He was the one that grabbed Jenny.” “Dona, there is a flight record of a private plane, Beechcraft with ten passengers left 21:30pm Mountain time. Owner & pilot…Marvin Lloyd. Oh s**t! We may have just uncovered the mystery. He may be taking these women and selling them. Let me see those pictures.” Gerardo holds his hand out to me. I hand him Jenny and Margarita’s picture. He scans it using his phone and making a phone call. I keep checking the footage from the Bank ATM and decide to scan other systems in the same area. We hit pay dirt as Gerardo’s contact at a shipping dock that has international customers that dock and store their ships there. He checked his camera footage and found Jenny, Margarita and six other women being loaded into a car. Not a ship?
