STORM

chapter one

Everyone was awaiting the full moon as they all danced the night away with their friends or maybe their crushes who they thought would be their mates. Toady was the peace ceremony and this time it was hosted by the vampire kingdom. Everyone was eager to see if they would get their mate. I am the only daughter of my father, alpha of the moonlight pack , and was expected to get my mate by full moon which is today. My mother passed away and I was left with my father only. Since when I was young my only goal has always been to please him. When other kids were playing I would always practice to make sure that I would make my father proud of him. I am the best warrior and the best fighter in my pack. My father believed that a woman can never lead a pack and yet I had proven myself to him and the pack countless of times. The pack members had a lot of faith in me but when it came to my father he never saw me as enough and that is why I needed a mate by today so that he can help me rule my pack.

From a long time ago when my father always left for wars it was me who always ruled the pack on his behalf and took the position as their Luna. I never allowed anyone to step down on me just like I never entertain bulling of any kind in my pack . We were all family no matter what status or rank you held.

The moon was now up as bright as ever . I watched as super naturals of all kind located their mates ands embraced each other. I headed deep into the forest to my favorite spot since I came here. I sat down next to the lake and watched how it reflected the moon light in the dark night. Fireflies flied together two by two calling me lonely in so many languages. But what If I really didn't get a mate? Knowing my father I knew he would never allow me to rule the pack. Though for me I don't need anyone to pull me down and If I get a mate who thinks that women can't rule then I don't think I would last with him.

I've had my fair share in relationships and let me just say I'm not in a rush in fining my mate. Just as I was about to head back to the rest , I caught a whiff of a vanilla scent. Mate? no . I turned to see a wolf figure in the tress on the other side of the lake. It's not even the vampire territory. I knew it could see me although I couldn't see it. I watched waiting for any reaction from him. From the power radiating from him then maybe he is already an alpha. I was about to move to stand up when I watched it turn and speed off leaving me just staring in the same direction as if he wasn't there in the first place. Is that a rejection or? Once I realized he really wasn't coming back I headed back to the ceremony. Who needed a mate anyway? At least he made it easier for me. I tried consoling myself although I knew deep down that I was feeling hurt. I shrugged of the pain once I got to where my pack was.

"Where is he?"

"Is it an alpha?"

"Or a vampire?"

"Or a witch?"

"Or a hybrid?"

"Or-"

"Enough!" I stopped them from all the questions. "I didn't find my mate."

Silence followed and they all looked behind me at once. I didn't need to turn to know who it was.

"What do you mean by you didn't find your mate Storm?"

I turned to face my angry father who looked like he would flame up with every word I said wrong but well, did I care?

"Exactly as you had father . I did not find my mate."

I watched him turn and head out as the pack followed him but not before I had him say "I'll find a solution for this ."

Well I just can't leave without eating as much as I could. Like look at all this delicacies. It would be such a waste to just leave. I quickly headed to the food section and took as much as my plate could carry. Well here was I during the whole peace festival trying to act like a proper lady so as to not a shame my mate. Now that he doesn't want me , then what's stopping me.

Once I was full I quickly headed to tell my uncle Zane to tell him I was heading before my father would send for my head. I quickly headed to my car just in time as my pack was leaving.

We arrived in a few hours and I quickly headed to my room and threw myself on the bed. Home sweet home.

I was woken up by all the commotion outside. I quickly got out of my room and headed to my father's office.

"What's up this early morning, for Christ sake I was trying to sleep." I interrupted having all of them stare at me. That's when I noticed the other people in the room. The beta and his wife the beta female, the gamma and his wife and our delta with his wife.

"First of all, never interrupt me when I'm talking." My father's voice boomed but it didn't affect me the slightest. "Second of all, it's almost noon and not morning. Go get ready your fiancé is coming."

I stood there speechless then burst out laughing .

" What do you mean by fiancé, I think I made it clear that I did not find my mate."

My father rolled his eyes before saying,"We were lucky enough that alpha Keith's son of Scarlet pack took an interest in you and since his mate died he agreed to your engagement."

" By whose permission did the engagement be finalized?" I inquired starting to get pissed off.

My father walked to me and I could see I made him angry by questioning him.

"The decision was made my me,your alpha and I don't think I need your permission in making any decision regarding the future of my pack. So you better go get ready and don't even think about creating a a scene!" He used his alpha voice on me making me submit to it.

I hated this , I hated the fact that I could not resist the alpha's tone. With one glance at my mother who was all tears and apologetic looks from the rest I quickly headed out.I sat on my bed as I let it all sink in. My father was ready to go all the way as to forcefully engage me and worse to alpha Keith's son...Chance. He was a womaniser and although people say his mate's death was due to illness, I knew very well that Amelia's death was caused by him. The first time I met Amelia I immediately bonded with her .She was a quiet girl who kept to herself. It took time for her to open up to me and gradually she started telling me about her childhood memories that made her laugh alot. After a while we eventually became best friends. We would always spend time together and then one day I got to meet Chance. At first glance my wolf and I disliked him. Everything about him felt wrong. I don't know maybe it was the fact that even though he had such a beautiful and sweet mate he still had the audacity to cheat on her. I can remember telling Amelia to go talk some sense into him or better yet we could Bea the hell out of him but after seeing the look in her eyes I knew that their relationship was not how it was supposed to be. After constant nagging her she finally told me how Chance was physically abusing her. she told me that she once tried to tell the current alpha,Alpha Keith, but he hit her and told her to never mention it to anyone or else he would kill her. Once when I had gone to visit her I walked in to see alpha Keith on her covering her mouth as she cried. He was trying to force himself on her. I quickly took a vase slamming it on him. I took Amelia and we managed to sneak her into our pack. We thought we had time to plan on what to do but all that went to ashes because early the next morning Alpha Keith together with some of his warriors came for her. She made me promise not to tell anyone and that she would say it herself. That night I could not sleep as I had a very bad feeling , I had decided that the next day no matter what, I would go get Amelia and we would run away to a better place .The next morning,news arrived that Amelia, my best friend, was dead. That day I lost myself,part of me died with her. I blamed myself for being weak. Maybe if I was the alpha or stronger I would have been able to save her. I had failed my best friend. That day as I felt our connection fade away , under the rain in my wolf form, I vowed to her that I will get justice for her even if it will cost me my life. That day became the first and last time I cried . Since then I did my best and eventually became the best warrior . Everyone knew I was fit for the alpha position. I knew anyone would say that that this was the perfect opportunity to take revenge but it was not time yet . If I was to just go with him and just killed him for what they did then just would be an easy death for them . I needed to show everyone just who they were. My thoughts were disrupted when I heard my door open. I turned to see my mother sit next to me. We sat in silence before she said," I hope you can forgive me. I tried to talk to your father but..he.." I cut her off by hugging her. I have her a small smile because I knew it would probably be the last time I would see her. My loving mother.

"Don't worry mum I'm a big girl. I'll be fine . We will be fine. Just promise me to take care of yourself,ok?"

She nodded as I pulled her in my embrace again. Although my father and I did not get along I knew very well that he would not dare to hurt my mother. I knew my mother was sent to get me ready for the ceremony. I quickly took a bath and wore the dress she gave me. I didn't do make up just because I didn't feel like it. I put on my flats and followed my mother to the pack field where the ceremony was being held. I received looks of pity from my pack members and I knew they were all aware that this was a forced marriage. My mother directed me to where my father was and that's when I saw alpha Keith and Chance . Once we got there they all turned to look at me.

" There she is my beautiful daughter in law."Alpha Keith said looking at me . Anyone would have thought he was being nice but I didn't miss the way his eyes roamed over my body making me want to cover myself from his eyes.

" I've always considered you as a daughter and now you actually are."he finished with a laugh.

They laughed with my dad then turned to leave after winking at Chance . My mother excused herself after I gave her a reassuring smile.

"How have you been beautiful?" He asked as he stared at my chest.

" My eyes are up here " I said trying to act as calm as possible.

He laughed then said " I think that I now have the right to stare anywhere I want on your body. After all you are now mine and I can't wait to f**k you senseless."

I stood there stunned for a while before looking at him in the eye and saying ," I would rather be dead than letting you even lay a finger on me."

" That would be ok for me. A least you would follow that stupid so called mate of mine." That was just enough for me. I could feel my wolf threatening to come out. No not now. We had to fight this . Just when I thought I was going to lose it I felt hands on my shoulders. The soothing effect it brought made me know who it was immediately. " Kindly excuse us for a while Chance." My mother said and did not even wait for an answer as she led me to the pack house.

" Leave."

"Pardon"

" I know ..I heard what he said. You wont be safe when you go there. Don't think I missed the way Keith was looking at you. I never liked them anyway and since your father does not want to listen to me than its a high time I remind him that it's me who gave birth to you and no one can decide your future only you. "

I was still in shock when she gave me a small bag.

"Run , I'll try as long as I can to take care of the situation here but knowing your father he will try to chase after you. In the bag there is a phone and car keys with some money. The car is packed a few miles form here so you have to turn into your wolf. I have placed directions for you to go to a pack where I'm sure they will protect you. When you get there show them your ring and make sure you don't lose it. Remember I love you and no matter what don't come back." She seemed to be a different person and not my mother. I hugged her as she pushed me through the back door where no one would be able to see me go.

" I love you mum" I said as I changed to my wolf form and took off. The last words I had from her was," Be strong and show them that you are a storm"

I ran as if my life depended on it not once turning back. Once I got to the car I quickly got in and just then I heard a howl. A howl I knew very well meant the beginning of a search that meant they had known. I quickly fumbled with the keys as I imputed the directions. I could hear the sounds of wolves coming closer. I quickly drive just as I saw them in my sight. Woah this car is fast. I quickly drive dodging all the wolves that came my way. I was almost past the border into the city when a black wolf came in my direction . I knew the wolf very well..father. He was about to hit my car when he was hit by another silver wolf pushing him out of my way. Mother. I watched as my mother stood tall and faced my father. One look from her and I knew she would be fine. Damn she looked strong. I quickly drive happy to have reached the city. I knew from her they would not be able to track me.

For the next hours I drove until it led me deep into the forest. I don't know why this place seemed familiar to me. I drove until I saw a lake. s**t isn't this the same lake I had seen my mate. I was a hundred percent sure this was not the vampires territory so that meant I was on the other side. I continued driving until I was stopped by a pack of wolves. I got out scared when I noticed that they looked nothing like ordinary wolves. They were extremely huge with an aura that would make anyone cower way but I was never one to cower." Is this the Serpent pack" I asked . One of the wolves went into the forest and then almost immediately a guy appeared.

"Yes why are you trespassing our territory without any official invite. "

His voice held hostility but I ignored it trying to act least affected.

"I was sent here."

"By who ? No one knows our location."

"By Lily ..Lily Storm."

He stood there and for a moment I'm sure I saw shock in his eyes. The other wolves quickly stood as if ready to fight me.

"Lies, who sent you here and how do you know her name."

Why was my mother's name so important. I quickly remembered the ring she gave me and quickly showed it to them.

"She told me to show you this."

On seeing the ring he just nodded ans told me to follow him.

I tried my best to cram the path we were taking just in case I tried to get away from here. We passed where warriors were training and some pack members being taught . They seemed curious but I could tell that they were friendly when some of them gave me a smile.

I followed them until what I assumed was their pack house. I got in to receive the same curious glances as I followed him up the staircase. He then stopped next to a door then turned to me.

"You can freshen up as I tell the alpha of your arrival and hopefully the alpha will meet you and then decide the way forward."

"Thank you.?"

"Zane, Beta Zane of Serpent pack." he finished with a bow that actually made me laugh.

"Storm..just a normal omega of just another pack"

For the first time at least I saw him smile.

"Ok Storm , I have a feeling we will be great friends."

"Me too Zane." I said giving him a smile.
