I went back to finish cooking, as Chase went back to petting Angel. “I am not comfortable with him somewhere out there.” I begin. As I was near the door behind Chase as he confronted Ben, I noticed his bag by the door. He came straight from the airport to make sure I was safe. That touched my heart. “Can you stay here for a few days?” I asked him. For some reason, I feel completely safe with Chase.
He looked up at me as if I hadn’t needed to ask. “I was already planning on staying. I don’t trust that guy.”
I smiled, “Thank you. I really thought I knew him. But now?” I take a deep breath and released it, “I am finding I never knew him at all.”
“You know me.”
