Matters of the heart and revenge

Gabriel and the Council warriors leave early in the morning the next day, taking our prisoners with them. They will continue their investigation and deal with what comes next. Which is great, this is not a matter of one or a couple of packs. The Rogue King wants to get rid of the Council for whatever reason, taking down the whole supernatural order with it. Which would be catastrophic, and believe me I am not being overly dramatic.

I am on my way to the hospital right now, Rose has already been there for a couple of hours helping out as much as she can. Fortunately, we didn't lose many people yesterday, just eleven. I am perfectly aware that it could have been much worse, but for some reason it feels like it was eleven too many. And there are plenty of injured wolves receiving treatment, so the hospital staff are extremely busy. I ask them if I can be of any help, but they say that they are good. Well, I guess I'll check on Ryder then. I find his room and knock on the door. 

"Come in," he calls out.

"Hey, Mr Mummy!" I notice his eyes lit up when he sees that it's me.

"Hey yourself, beautiful," he responds with a smile and pats his hospital bed inviting me to come closer. I sit down next to me and inspect his heavily bandaged torso.

"I'm fine, almost fully healed," he reassures. "They will take them off today". I smile as he starts playing with my fingers.

"Lay down next to me for a bit?" he offers with his eyes pleading for me to agree. I do as he asks and we stay like that enjoying the comfortable and comforting silence. After a while I say, "I have to go..." He hums in response. I sit up and lean over him to give his cheek a kiss, but he moves his head, so that our lips meet instead. The kiss is slow and cautious at first, but with each movement of our lips it becomes more passionate. He lifts me up and moves me, so now I'm straddling him with his hands moving up and down my thighs, squeezing them from time to time. We break the kiss only after someone knocks on the door. Both of us are left panting and wanting more. I open the door and let one of the nurses in. Before I can slip out of the room I hear Ryder shout, "I'll see you later, Mia!" 

On my way home I can't stop thinking about what has just transpired. I'm pretty sure we would have had s*x if we hadn't been interrupted. The thing is, I don't think what we did was because of our feeling for each other or even lust. It was because we wanted to feel alive. I know I did, still do. Last night I was killing people, I can still see their motionless bodies and dead eyes. Sure, they were the enemy, they attacked us, we were just defending. But it only makes me feel a bit better.

As soon as I open the front door, Teddy rushes to me. "I think I've got something". He drags me to the command center and shows that his face recognition program found a match for one of Rose's sketches. Hello there Prof. Andrew White! It seems like we have a lot to talk about...

Unfortunately, our talk doesn't happen. After doing a name search we see that he died in a car accident a couple of months after we escaped the Facility. What an interesting coincidence! Even though we can't talk to him, maybe his wife knows something useful. With that thought we pack our things and fly to Portland, Oregon. As it turns out he kept his wife in the dark about almost everything. She knew he was doing genetic research at a private lab. But she did provide us with a couple of names of people he allegedly worked with. So the trip wasn't a total bust.

That's what the next fifteen months look like. We track every single lead with not much to show for it, and provide security services to multiple clients both human and supernatural. So we are staying busy and getting rich in the process. We also travel a lot, which helps me stay away from Ryder, the further the better. 

We have just hit another dead end, when Teddy has an epiphany. "How did I not think about this before?! What we need is a time machine!" he yells. We exchange worried glances, which he notices. "Don't worry, I'm not crazy! It's actually pretty simple. I just need to access data from the days after we escaped the Facility to see what was happening in the area. We know we weren't the ones who destroyed it and suspect they moved their operation elsewhere. We should be able to track their movements". It's worth a try. So this is what we have been working on for a while now. From our home base. To my great relief Ryder isn't here. Leo and him are on an ally-building and strengthening mission. That's part of their final preparations to become the new Alpha and Beta of the pack. The official ceremony will be held in June. From then on he will be around more often, but I'll think about this problem later.

Right now we are on the move again. This time to Boise, Idaho. By some miracle Teddy was able to track trucks from the Facility to a warehouse there. We were not able to get any information on the phone, so we are going to try our luck in person. A couple of bribed warehouse employees later we find out that the warehouse was used by the people we are interested in for three years. That's when they moved the last of whatever was in there. So we were right, they still are operating somewhere we just don't know where, not yet. However we do find out the name of the moving company that made the final pick up. Teddy hacks into their records and finds out our new destination - Reno, Nevada. 

What we find there gives us hope that we are getting closer. The moving truck made the delivery to an old hospital building. It's abandoned now, but based on what we manage to find out it was being used by someone up till a year ago when a fire broke out. We search the building from top to bottom. In the basement we find fifty tight reinforced cells with deep scratches on the walls. Looks like this was less of a training and more of a testing facility. I take lots of pictures and send them to the Alpha to pass them on to the Council. They need to know that it is still happening. Maybe it will make them get off their asses at last. Not that I'm holding my breath waiting for that to happen. Teddy manages to retrieve a hard drive from one of the burnt computers, and is trying to work his magic on it while we are sitting around doing nothing. And that's when I get a phone call that I hoped to never get. When I see that it's Ryder calling I know it's bad, even without my gut telling me about it. He usually texts me.

"Hello?" I do my best for my voice not to quiver. 

"Hi Mia, I'm calling to tell you something important. I want you to know that I'm really sorry and I care about you a lot..." He is stalling.

"Just get on with it, Ryder!" It sounds harsh and it wasn't my intention, but I need to know. 

"I found her. I'm so sorry!" he forces out.

"I'm very happy for you! I'm sure she is amazing, I can't wait to me her! But I have to go right now, talk to you later" I say as calmly as I can and hang up. I sit on the couch and stare at the wall for what feels like forever feeling like I lost the ground under my feet. Rose sits down next to me and hugs me without saying anything. Knox does the same from my other side. I open my mouth to say something, but I can't. Not without breaking down completely. Teddy hugs me from behind, and Ricky sits on the floor at my feet and puts his hands on my knees. We stay like that until it gets dark outside. Gathering all the strength I have I whisper "Let's go out" It might not be the smartest thing to do, but that's what I need right now. Just an hour and a half later we start our bar crawl. Thank god for fake IDs. At our bar number four, I think, we decide that we are tipsy enough to go dancing. Fortunately, there is a popular nightclub next door. One more tequila shot and I let loose. I'm not a great dancer, but I don't really care right now!

On my way back to the dance floor from the bathroom I see a handsome guy who makes eye contact with me and smiles. I shoot him a smile of my own. He steps in front of me and says, "Dance with me, beautiful!"

"Okay," I agree right away. We step onto the dance floor and start dancing. At first it is pretty innocent, but soon the combination of alcohol, loud music, sweat and darkness make every touch more s****l. He pulls me into a dark corner covered by a drape and kisses me hungrily. I respond with the same vigor. I want to feel wanted. No, scratch that, I need it. He kisses his way down my low cut top and licks my breast. When he reaches the bra, he pulls it a bit until he frees my n****e. He swirls his tongue around it, grazes it with his teeth and starts sucking. It both hurts and turns me on. One of his hands reaches between my legs, under my skirt, and starts rubbing me through the fabric of my panties. I let out a moan, and he starts kissing me again. He removes his hand and grinds into me, so that I can feel his throbbing erection. He pulls away breathing heavily and asks "Do you want to step out for a bit?" I agree without thinking. He leads me out through the back door to a little metal gate at the end of the alley. He opens it and we find ourselves in a little private yard with a beautiful gazebo covered in grape vine.

"Do you want to continue where we left off?" he asks huskily. 

"Yes," I moan out, as he squeezes my butt cheeks hard. He lifts me up and carries me into the gazebo. Once in he lowers me onto one of its sides. He starts grinding against me, teasing me. I find his swollen lips with mine, and bite him, making him groan. I hear a package tearing, but pay no attention to it. His hands are under my skirt again. One of them keeps me in place firmly, while the other slips into my soaking wet panties. He rubs his fingers up and down making me shudder at the foreign feeling. I gasp when one of the fingers goes in, then another one. Before I get to decide whether I like it or not, he takes them out and I feel pressure between my legs. It stings when his tip enters me, he grunts as he pushes his c**k deeper, and I bite my lower lip to contain the pain I'm feeling. One strong thrust and he is in, and this time I have to bite my hand. He moves in and out picking up the pace, I just close my eyes and try to enjoy it. I can't say that I hate it, but I'm also not enjoying it that much. The last remnants of the desire I was feeling leave me while he is still thrusting inside me. I attempt to get some of that feeling back by kissing him, but it doesn't work. Finally, he lets out a loud grunt and stops moving, I guess he is done. He leans on me hugging me and breathing heavily. I wince when he slips out of me, but don't make a sound.

"s**t!" he curses after he steps away from me. "I had no idea you were a virgin!"

"Don't worry about it," I shrug my shoulders. I jump off my seat remove my panties and wipe clean myself a bit.

"It was fun, see you around!" I walk past him not waiting for him to respond. I head to the bathroom and make sure that I look clean and presentable. After that I find my friends and we go back to the hotel. That night I fall asleep with tears streaming down my face. Not because I lost my virginity with a stranger whose name I don't even know, but because of my broken heart.

The next morning my phone's buzzing wakes me up. I press answer without looking at the caller ID.

"Leo has just told me, I'm so sorry!" The Luna gets straight to the point.

"I'm fine. I knew that it was highly likely to happen," I try to reassure her.

"Knowing it might happen doesn't make it any easier when it actually does happen," she counters. No s**t!

"I wish them nothing but happiness. Is there anything I can do for you?" I change the topic clumsily. Fortunately, she allows me to do it.

"Actually yes! I expect you to be back this week. I am throwing you a birthday party, and you can't miss Leo's Alpha ceremony. He'll need you there, for support!" That's a low blow, and she knows it!

"Fine," I groan. "We'll be back tomorrow!"

"Wonderful, see you then!" she says happily and then she goes all serious on me again, "You do know that the two of them will be there, maybe not for your birthday, but for the ceremony for sure."

"Yeah, looking forward to it!" I respond and hang up. f**k my life!
