Meredith's POV
"You truly have gone mad" I whisper as Cole looks down at me, a look of certainity becoming clearer by the moment.
He said the words.
He said them not as a joke..... "How... have you forgotten why I'm not trained already?".
"Because you haven't found the right person to train with" he replies, an answer he knows is a lie.
"No, its because I'm too weak for wolves and too strong for humans" I speak my truth, Cole's eyes glaring into me as I do.
Its true, he knows it is... so why deny it?
"Or maybe a wolf, one with self control, is all you've ever needed" he replies, abruptly ending our conversation and our meal apparently because as he gets up to leave, so do his wolves, even those half way through their meals, those just seated, getting up to follow their Alphas lead.

I stand in silence beside Cole as his wolves depart, only Trent pausing to look curiously between us. The wolf however moving quickly on as Cole's cold eyes descend on him.
As the cars wheels begin to turn down the dirt track I turn my gaze up to his, finding his cold eyes now concentrated directly on me, and only me.
"Come" he orders, as if I'm a dog, making me huff and cross my arms as I stand still, rolling my eyes away from him.
"Meredith" he warns, not looking back as he does.
"Cole" I reply it turn a slight turn to my voice letting him know I'm not one to be bossed around, especially without common decency.
He pauses, a slow, deep breath leaving him before he again turns to face me.
Dark eyes meeting mine, ones I wasn't expecting.
Before I can look away Ares's voice echoes softly over to me.
"Please little one... follow along... join us".
I want to refuse, wish to ask why but instead I find my head nodding a gentle nod and my feet taking small steps to follow.
It is only when we've reach our destination, a small patrol shed on the outskirts, that I wonder back on what just happened.
"Did... did you... just hyptnotize me?" I ask, the question aloud instead of in the privacy of my mind.
"No" Cole replies coldly, his conccentration still on locking us up in the already too small space.
"Did I miss something? Are... are we in danger here?" I ask, the wolf seeming to ignore me until his mission is complete.
"No" he eventually replies as he turns to face me, sitting down against the window ledge as he does.
"So why..." I begin, "Because we are here, alone, and sometimes delays aren't delays but decoys" he answers, making my brows scrunch.
"But... why then...".
"Why didn't I have more of my wolves stay behind?" he voices the question I'm unable to, my confidence waining as the large Alpha looks down upon me.
"Yes" I whisper, Cole's lips lifting into a small smile as he waits.
And waits.
Until I find the answer myself.
"Because if it is their plan... you... you want it to play out".
"But thats..... thats....".
"If not now then when?" he asks, forcing me back into confusion.
"If it is a ploy, which it is most likely not, then isn't it best it plays out here and now rather than later on, rather than in my home, in my bed?".
I should be worried, hyperaware, but instead my body, my mind begins to drift at his words.
Bed.
Cole. In. Bed.
Does he sleep in cozy flannel pajamas?
Just a pair of boxers?
... nothing?
Pictures of the options reel through my mind, my eyes closing as they do.
Cole.
Shirtless.
Shirtless and... and at peace.
No one asking anything from him, his concentration... his eyes... his attention entirely on me.
Would he be gentle?
Would he be rough and determined and possessive.... I know which I'd prefer.
And what would he like?
To be in control or to have it taken from him?
My experience is limited, given my current near imprisonment, but that doesn't mean I haven't found ways.
Visiting wolves.
The few chances I've had within human clubs.
A vampire who visited Blackfur more times than neccessary last year.
The similarity between them all.... they were all nothing.
A like... a lust shared between us and not much more.
But with Cole..... it feels like more... like if something happened it would be more....
Like if his lips met mine it would be like magnets meeting... drawn together and difficult to part.
Like if I felt his touch, his lips upon my skin I wouldn't ever want to feel anothers....
His touch.....
His lips....
"Meredith" Cole calls, the echo of his voice, the annoyance beneath letting me know this isn't the first time he has tried to regain my attention.
"Yes..." I gulp, attempting to slow my breaths, calm my racing heart and clear my thoughts before opening my eyes back up to him as I again answer "Yes, I... I guess its.... its better that way".
"Are you okay?" he asks, eyes trailing my body suspiciously as he does.
My eyes connect with his, my feet drawing me closer as I inhale his deep forrest scent.
"Yes... yes I'm fine" I answer, using the limited sanity I have left to force my steps to halt.
Cole's brow scrunches, his eyes remaining trained on me as he rises, as he stands to his full height before closing the remaining small space between us.
His hand slowly lifts, gliding over my cheek as he repeats "Are you okay?".
"I'm fine" I reply, using all the might I have to not lean into his touch, to not step forward one final step to feel his body press against mine.
"You feel hot.... are you unwell?" he asks curiously, breaking the spell.
With a final deep breath I step back. Back from his touch, back from his spell.
Forcing a smile to my lips I move my eyes back to meet his, "I'm... I'm fine".
"Are you sure?" he asks, brow still scrunched.
I force the smile further, bringing a lightness to my voice I don't feel as I reply "Yes... a little stuffy in here... thats all".
"Right... right" he says, turning to unlock and open the window.
"You don't..." I begin.
"Its okay" he interupts, "I'll hear them" he finishes as I move through the small space... through the small space and as far away from him as I can.
