Meredith’s POV “Okay okay we get it, it’s sad, but can we just get back to how exactly you ended up on this trip? Alpha Cole just offered for you to come along? No strings, no payback in return?” Bella asks for confirmation as she continues to pace the room. “Can you please sit down? You’re making me dizzy” I ask hoping the blur ahead of me will stand still for a moment. Bella pauses “sorry. . . But . . . Okay, how about this. . . Is he mated?”. My eyes fall from hers as I slowly nod. “Interesting .. .” Bella ponders but at least she is standing still now. “He doesn’t wear a mark” Bella begins matter-of-factly “is he newly mated?”. I shrug again, looking away as I mumble “I don't know”. “You like him” Bella smirks, her finger playfully pointing at me as her eyes now burn into me. I look up, finally meeting her eyes, giving her a knowing look as I attempt to lie “I do not”. At that her smirk widens, obviously seeing through my lie, my eyes roll, getting up off the couch to instead get ready for bed. “I’m tired” I hint, pulling back the giant blanket. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry. Feelings aside.... the question remains, why did he help you? I mean you know his reputation, right?” Bella asks as she climbs onto the bed beside me. I stay silent, but she can tell from my eyes I desperately want her to continue and thankfully she does. “For one he has never, NEVER, in his time as Alpha been beaten by anyone. One on one, four on one, doesn’t matter he has still never been beaten. Every warriors first preference is to train at Hunter's moon. Partially because their program is literally the most grueling and best. But also thinking maybe they will be the one. The irony is he hardly ever spars with anyone bar his beta" Bella says, shaking her head as she does, the image, conversation of Cole and his beta filling my mind. They really must be close. "Bringing me to my second point." Bella continues, pulling my attention back to her "He isn’t exactly known for being chatty. As few words as possible, even in emails, he only sends as many words as necessary. Not one more. Thirdly, you met him today. Not a week, not a month ago, but a mere few hours so why did he invite you, risk your father's wrath? I mean, not that he would have to worry about it, but still?!” she finishes, staring down at me as she eagerly awaits a response. Before I can even ponder an answer Bella continues “maybe he’s curious, I mean the daughter of an alpha he’s met dozens of times suddenly has a surprise daughter? Like who wouldn’t be curious”. “Or maybe it’s because of the missing wolf”, I add the obvious Bella seems to always avoid. “Yeah or that” she replies, again glimmering over it all. “So are you going to go again tomorrow?” Bella asks, not however asking as she snuggles in under the blanket beside me. I shrug, not being able to help hide my growing smiles at the thought before turning over to tuck myself in to sleep. “Meredith....” She asks calmly first before I hear her impatience as she again asks “Mere?!”. “Goodnight Bella” I smile, my eyes closing as a yawn escapes me. "You can't be serious?! How could you sleep right now?!" she whines. "Goodnight Bella" I repeat smiling growing as I do. "Goodnight Mere” Bella relents before throwing herself around beside me to get comfy. Morning comes quickly and even with Bella snoring beside me, my mind is already beginning to race. The biggest question being whether I should go today. Unlike yesterday, there's no hiding it from dad. The packs moving together today to begin the rebuilding efforts. But to say no..... to stay home... suddenly it feels like accepting my fate, my never-ending boredom and entrapment. The deciding factor oddly enough is found in the form of a teddy. The little wolf teddy I found yesterday, now washed and drying on my vanity. The Red lake members who need all the help they can get. Even from a wolfless girl like me. I turn on the tap, splashing the cool water on my face before looking at myself in the mirror.... this hair definetly needing work. But as my fingers tangle through my hair I see something else that needs work... or at least attention. My wrist now a vibrant and very obvious blue bruise. Long sleeves it is. Walking out I find Bella still near unconsciously splayed across my bed. "Bella" I call, ripping the blanket off as I do. "What in goddesses name?!" she mumbles, trying to find the blanket again as she does. “Do you want to come with me or not?” I ask, smiling to myself as I make my way into the wardrobe and hearing the shuffle of her leaving to get ready herself behind me. As expected, I open my door to an awaiting Bella, her long brown hair piled on top of her head in a messy bun, her designer leggings and crop top sculpting her body to perfection. The only jewelry is her long necklace, a pair we bought together a few christmases ago and even though they are mistletoe, neither of us take them off. I can’t help but compare as I look down at my own loosely clad body, my faded long sleeve tee paired with an even older pair of ripped jeans. . . Yep, no wonder I'm invisible beside her. I smile all the same, shaking away my insecurities, closing the door behind me and beginning towards the car park outside.
