Cole's POV The dining room is easy enough to find, my stomach growling with anticipation, my nose excitedly hunting out the scents. As I open the large door, I find my men already seated, the head of their table remaining free for me. The seat beside mine is also empty as I hear Hugo call, “hey boss”. I roll my eyes at my friend's informality, especially as he yells it across the room full of Blackfur wolves. I give him a knowing look, but he is completely forgiven when I see the four plates stacked high in his hands. Hugo smirks as I try to subtly near run to the table as he places two of the plates down. My eyes devour it first, one plate near erupting with rice and two different kinds of curry, the next filled with salad, and even that looks f*cking delicious. In a previous life, I would have eaten the salad first, save best till last, but the plethora of interrupted meals lately has me diving straight into the lamb curry. After my first bite the table erupts with clangs of cutlery as my men hurry to follow suit. Showing their respect as they wait for me to eat first, something I have tried to change with little success. My mouth hums as the different spices hit my tongue, my stomach pain now lessening as I finally fed my aching hunger. As we eat, I link Hugo beside me. Linking takes more energy than talking but linking means I can explain our trip today and continue fighting off the hunger pains. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meredith’s POV I open the door to Bella as she impatiently whines “come onnnnnnnn”. Before I can think Bella has my wrist in her hand, pulling me towards the dining room as she adds “Marcus is cooking his specialty today in honor of our guests. Hurry up before those piggy warriors eat it all”. Her grip is painfully tight, “ummm Bella” I remind her quietly as my wrist squirms in her grip. “Oh sh*t sorry” she says quickly removing her hand and surveying my now reddening wrist. “It’s okay” I say as I pull it back towards me, looking at it quickly before sighing as I let it fall beside me. It is small things like this that spur my father on, and I hate how my vulnerability is so obvious to see. The bruise now forming on my wrist will take days to disappear. I continue to walk alongside Bella as she opens the door and heads towards our usual seats. But not wanting to hear my father's latest ‘be careful’ lecture I instead grab her hand and guide us towards the first empty seats I can see. I can feel my father's stare, but I try to ignore it as Bella goes to get our food. I look around to see I am seated with the Hunter's moon’s men, Alpha Cole sitting down at the head of the table. A large wolf with an even bigger smile places two plates down before him and he stares at them like he hasn’t seen food in days. He tears his eyes away for just a second, thanking the smiling wolf before beginning to shovel food into his mouth. I jump a little at the loud clangs that follow. I hadn’t noticed before that even with their food in front of them, all his men had not taken a single bite until he had. My eyes go back to their Alpha, the food entering his mouth quickly but even with its speed, his manners still hold, not a grain of rice falling astray. It is then I noticed his eyes, their glaze telling me that even as he eats he’s working, linking someone. I look around the table searching for a similar pair, but instead hear the grinning man reply aloud “you don’t want to take Parker or Trent too?”, “No, I am not scared of a little fairy, but taking them could allow me to get some sleep before midnight”. Alpha Cole smirks, his eyes still glazed as the man beside him scoffs “ha ha. I do not have a bedtime, but I also can’t survive on three hours like you can”. The plate before him now empty, he looks to the man beside him before looking at a man three seats down. The stocky man with dark features quickly swallows before answering with a small bow “yes Alpha”. Alpha Cole’s eyes again glaze as he starts on his salad. The stocky man bowing his head as he confirms his orders. “The rest of you can prepare for tomorrow but not past six. After that eat, rest and sleep. Trust me you’ll need it tomorrow” he says softly, his eyes glancing curiously at me before turning back to the man beside him “better?” . The wolf’s eyes roll, revealing just how close the pair must be for him to do such a thing to his Alpha, “you’ll thank me later”. Alpha Cole then pulls his phone out, hardly hitting anything before placing it against his ear and stabbing some salad. He obviously doesn’t expect such a quick response. Rushing with his mouth now full of food he grunts to acknowledge he is in fact there before swallowing and following up with a quick apology “Sorry Petra, yes I’m here. Just checking in and letting you know we arrived safely. Also, Hugo and I are going on a quick trip to Red lake so might be unreachable for a while”. He pauses before groaning as he lets his fork fall, getting up to leave the table and nodding for the no longer grinning man to follow. As I watch him leave Bella sits down beside me, smirking as she whispers “at least you aren’t drooling this time as you stare”. I give her a look before thanking her for my plate and beginning eating.
