“Are you such a fool?” Darius snapped.
“YOU are the fool!” Chrystal shot back. “Have your men aim –”
“Silence! My men? My men were killed by that horde of savages! And you kill–”
“SILENCE!” the Alpha King cut in.
He glanced between the two would-be rulers of the land, his expression heavy.
“Our Luna has just returned, and the journey has been hard. Go, now, rest.”
“Father –”
“I will give my answer this evening.”
“But –”
“You will not be made to suffer my child. Trust in your father. I have much to consider. Go now. Rest. Together,” he said, deep meaning in his voice as he glanced between the two young wolves.
Chyrstal held her father’s gaze, her eyes filling. She curtsied and spun on her heel, stalking out.
Daruis stared after her, then followed. He did not bow to the King.
