Chrystal stared as his broad back began to rise and fall in a steady rhythm. Then, she glanced around again. Natural light flowed into the ‘room’. From the sounds, from the temperature, from the scent in the air, it was clear that it was late afternoon. She had been asleep for at least 10 hours. Her limbs and joints still had a dull ache, even with the work Ari had done. She looked down at herself. She was still dressed in her ruined, filthy gown. Two things came clearly to her mind. First, she hated gowns, and, secondly, she hated the color white. Without thinking, she ripped the cloth off her body in one move. Chrystal exhaled, as if she had been liberated from a tight chain.
