Chrystal dragged Castian away from the beast. As she pulled, she tried to use Ari’s power, but felt a shock in her palms. The more she tried, the more intense the pain. The chain on their wrists was preventing her, preventing them both, from shifting in any way, however small. She bit down a curse as she kept her eyes on the two remaining wolves. Castian’s ankle was bleeding. She had felt the pain of the bite that had pulled him down, but she, not he, had cried out. She bit down harder. Castian pushed himself on the sand, using his elbows and heels, closer to her, as the wolves moved again. He spun, lying on his belly, parallel to the advancing beasts.
